Charlotte Symphony OrchestraFounded in 1932, the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra is considered one of the nation's finest regional orchestras. Under the batons of Music Director Peter McCoppin and Resident Conductor Janna Hymes-Bianchi, the orchestra is continually growing artisticially, expanding its base of talented musicians as well as its repertoire. The orchestra plays more than 250 performances annually, and its series includes Classics, Pops, Cabaret, Children's and, new for the 1996-97 season, the Pride Series, which features world-renown African-American artists.The 1996-97 Classics season opens on October 11 with pianist André Watts.
