SNOW SKIING!!!

Snow skiing is great fun and there are several great places to go for skiing near Charlotte. The four best ones are Snowshoe (WV), Winterplace (WV), Beech (NC) and Sugar (NC). Beginners should take lessons or take along a friend that already knows how to ski. This will help them get off to a great start and they will enjoy it more. Be sure and bring more than enough warm clothing. It's much easier (and cheaper) to leave things in the car than it is to buy items when you get there. Of the four slope locations mentioned above, I personally think that Winterplace is the best skiing for a beginner. Winterplace has wide, gentle beginner slopes and is usually uncrowded. It takes roughly the same time to get there as it does to Beech because of the straight drive up I-77 even though it is much further away. They have slopes for everyone's taste there; I've reached speeds of 40 to 50mph myself on their steepest slopes! The best slopes by far if you're willing to drive a good bit further are at Snowshoe -- It's awesome!!!
