Last Weeks Run
Run 1785 on 5th Nov 2002 @ Diplo Site
Hares: Liz & Sylvia
Money, money, money
was obviously the theme for the day, the hares were hoping everyone donated
buckets of it, hash cash hoping we’d have enough to pay them too! Now we’ll
know where everyone’s priorities lie! The jungle was festooned with replica
notes of varied denomination and origin, it was questioned who were the most
likely to not notice if we picked up a few and used them….
Would eagle eyed hash
cash notice….YEP not even a pause in that decision.
Would Sylvia and Liz
notice either for the charity or for tokens now that would be good! but
consensus was a resounding YEP they’d notice.
Would Supa save, Tiong
Hin or other supermarket notice probable so that was no good either but best bet
was the BB how much do they pay for an exclusive interview and information on
the counterfeiters of the Brunei Jungle!!! Could be a page one story but then
again we don’t want anyone to get into trouble so good on you ladies for going
in again and picking it up!
The run, well perfect
length for the time of year, pretty good trails, good amount of paper and
thankfully the hares had got rid of the Brunei army before the run (more details
wanted speak to the hares!) The eagerness of some was obvious as they clustered
clucking at the edge of the road before 5.15pm and their instant sprint up the
sandy ridge while others meandered around the tent looking skyward for more
signs of rain, others huddled together talking in hushed tones? What was to come
tonight! Whichever group you were in, most eventually made it to the top of the
hill and started to scurry along the undulating ridge walk and very nice it was
too. Time to catch up with the goss, time to stretch those tendons and muscles,
remember our poor co-hare Anna, and time to consider the pros and cons of
counterfeiting. The view was considered by some trying to determine exactly
where they were, doesn’t take much to loose some hens!! and then we dropped
down to the leafy trails and onto first check.
Who knows who found
it? Not me or my co-hares but we were met by the kind hearted Debbie explaining
how to short cut to the on paper in the valley. Did anyone take notice NO, you
should try listening to some of our older oldest
old sages
more experienced hashers. At this point Debbie was heading back and
probable unnoticed by most so were most of the committee (if they’d actually
got this far) as organizational responsibilities called, as we schemed to
organise the nights celebrations! So
if you went on please fill in for me and let everyone know how it was!!
The last hill though
was a killer I was reliable informed by Di the front horn as she emerged onto
the in trail ridge again. Concern at this point was for Gina C, as Di called
down to check that she was still breathing, loosing her at this point would have
made for an interesting night!
Thank you ladies for a
good run, well organized charity fund raising event thanks Sylvia and Liz and
great raffle thanks to Gina R and fellow helpers.
Cheryl’s turn.
What a great job the
Committee did for Gina’s 1000th!
I was a bit worried when the blue light appeared and to be told to act
normally but hide my beer! Well,
I never act normal in the first place and don’t drink beer. (had a delicious G
and T in my hand at the time though courtesy of Karen H!)
What a scam! It was
only Glyn and his video camera!
After manfully taking
the hash shit, Gina was unfurled on a banner the likes of which I have never
seen in my nelly duff. Then
she was dressed to the manor born by the fashion advisors from Hash Shop. Our G.M. then took up the mantle of Eamon Andrews and
presented a ‘This is Your Hash Life” type tribute to our Gina. A very good job too, if I may say so. Gifts started flowing towards the star of the evening.
Megastar hash boots and a very nice plaque from the hubby.
Flowers, life time membership and a book of hash memories from us.
Gina then gave a
speech from the heart and we got tore into the fish and chips!
(After the speech was finished of course, because we are all properly
brought up girls.)
A memorable evening.
Alison (again)
Tonight’s run is in
the same area but not quite, is of similar length well perhaps not quite, will
be followed by a great on-on most definitely to celebrate Deepevalli, thanks to
all the ladies for putting the food on and my co-hares for the extras.
THE PREVIOUS WEEKS RUN
Run 1784 on 29th Oct 2002 @ Spg370 Jln Muara
Hares: Gina C, Debbie & Ziggie
The Halloween Run
At 6.45 cackling crones, raging devils and other creatures of the night gathered at Debbies. The horn sounded and we were off following paper ghouls, witches and stars down the track. A procession of torches led the way into the dark.
The generous hares provided both a full length (witches) and economy (Fairies) run for the more faint hearted. Monsters with water pistols provided additional thrills and checking in the dark was an interesting experience. Just before leaving the jungle an obligatory shot of schnapps encouraged all to let their hair down.
On arrival at Ziggies midnight blue spirits put all in a good humour. Kaye received her 150 run award. A surprise appearance of SLaphead and Glyn who presented Gina with a golden chook to celebrate her 999th hash in Brunei. (That's 20 years of straight hashing). Mandy, Naj and Kiki won best dressed prizes for their outstanding costumes and the two Helens demonstrated how a hashit should be taken.
The evening was completed with a deliscious dinner of Chilli Concarne and baked potatoes which slightly counteracted the effects of the alcohol. Blue t shirts were provided which are to be taken to this weeks run.
Talking of this weeks run it does have a few hard hills but it is all in a good cause. Hens are asked to dig deep to support local Balinese who were affected by the October 12th tragedy. This cause is close to the heart of Hen House Harrier Cath B who was in Bali at the time.
