There has also been a malfunction/fatality where this caused the canopy to turn into a bow tie close to the ground. This caused the jumper to die when he could not survive the rapid rate of fall. Experienced jumpers can take this chances, but the post was meant to say that a new jumpers should free to "when in doubt throw it out" without being harassed on the ground. There have been to many fatalities to students that are hesitant to initiate procedures that could save their life, because they were critisized for cutting away in a similar situation. It is much better to be saved unneccessarily to many times than to be saved one to few times. |

It started 5:30 in the morning, I ate my breakfast at AMI where I work as a, Metrology Laboratory Staff, after sipping a cup of coffee, rushed to ride on a taxicab goin' to Domestic Airport where I am scheduled to ride with my Jumpmaster on a eigth jumpers capacity Cessna , but we're just two boarded on that plane. |

The feeling is high, viewing over Metro Manila is fun, my Jumpmaster instructed me some points to remembered, until we spotted the dropzone at Santor, Batangas. and I am excited for my second jump. |

It's a static jump, exiting was fun at 4000 , my arch was bad, I was blown around like a piece of board. At deploy I see just a half of the canopy, and the lines are twisted, I kicked my left legs sideways that made me several turns and I did, no more twisted line but nothing happened to my canopy still folded at the left side, I pulled the toggles and tried some troubleshooting but it doesn't work, my slider was stucked at the upper part of the lines, suddenly my canopy spinned rapidly, I checked my altimeters, it's already at 2000 going fast down to 1800. I remembered what the Jumpmaster told us during ground training that "when in doubt throw it out", and at 1800 , I cutaway and pulled my reserve. |

Maybe I made a mistake, but at least what I did was on the side of safety. My Jumpmaster tapped me on my shoulder and said, " Well that was an expensive jump", Yeah he's right I have to pay the reserve's chute packing and for the lost ripcord. Anyway, what a cool feeling right after I pulled my reserve. |
