Stubble Interview by Ken Zebbyn

Above the old Club Babyhead in the Jerky's poolroom bar I met with Sponge while they shot a few racks and got comments from vocalist Vinnie Dombroski and bass player Tim Cross.

KEN: What inspired the album title "Rotting Pinata" ?

Vinnie: We saw photos of GG Allin's funeral with people hitting him and spitting on him. Our soundman said "It was like a rotting pinata" and it became a song and ... This is kinda morbid but I wonder if GG ever thought about people seeing him in his casket on tour after he was dead. I bet people would have paid to see that.

KEN: Are you satisfied with the sounds on the album ?

Tim: One of the cool things about the album is the songs order and it all kind of paints a picture. It brings you up it brings you back down it brings you up, its full of emotions. Its meant to be listen to all the way through. Because then you get the whole picture what the bands about.

KEN: You guys are from Detroit, its allways pictured as a Crime Capitol. How did you guys make it out ?

Vinnie: This is what it is. Detroit is a beautiful paradise and we don't want people to find out about it, so we tell people its rotten and lousy.

Tim: So nobody comes there and we have it all to ourselves.

Vinnie: Detroit is a garden of Eden I'm telling you right now, you can park your car there and leave it running all nite long. You can leave your front door open, your screen door open and nobody bugs you man nobody bugs ever. But they print those pictures in the paper and shit gets in the news so we can keep people out of our paradise.

Tim: Those pictures of the houses burning on "Devils Night" those are models you know, like they do in the movies.

Vinnie: Those carjackings, its all a bunch of lies. Its a bunch of bullshit.

KEN: How important is pool ?

Tim: The first thing Vinnie did when he came to the club was to set up a rack of balls.

Vinnie: The quality of a gig is based on having a pool table.

KEN: Final Comments!!!

Vinnie: Thank God for Stubble man.... I'm even gonna grow some stubble man.
