The Ostrom Family
Carl Anton Ostrom born in Gelfe, Nykobing, Sweden 1824. Son of John Erik Ostrom and Brida Catherine LIMBORG. Married in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, on the 30th of December 1861 at the Lutheran Church, Melbourne, Victoria, Eliza Murphy (Source: Vic Reg. of Marriages, Ref. No. 4416). Eliza was born in Victoria in 1841, Daughter Of Denis Murphy and Ellen Condon.
Carl was a sailor who apparently jumped ship when he arrived in Australia. He settled down to life as a farmer in Lilydale, Victoria. He died in Lilydale on the 21st January 1897 (Source: Vic. Reg. of Deaths, Ref. No. 2079) and Eliza died in 1931 also at Lilydale, Victoria. (Source: Vic Reg. of Deaths, Ref. No. 5745) Both are buried in the Lilydale Cemetery. All their children were born in Victoria, Australia.
