Ver-o-Peso

A mixture of fish market, open air market and tourist attraction, Ver-o-Peso
(See the weight) is the most colorful place in Belém. Local boats dock everyday,
bringing fish, shrimp, fruits and ceramics... and taking other goods to the river
dwellers. The city residents also go to the Ver-o-Peso in search of medicinal herbs,
ornamental plants, sacred rituals and fragrant roots that when grated are
transformed into "cheiro do Pará" - fragrance of Pará which is used to aromatize
wardrobes and enclosed areas.
