This internet exercise will examine topics and other areas of interest from Chapter Five of the text.
GO to Netscape and click on open. Type in http://www.yahoo.co.uk
This will take you to the UK and Ireland Yahoo. From there type in "China" in the box and click Search. Then click on Regional:Countries:China. Then click on cities and municipalities.
1. How many did you find?
2. Which cities have the most internet sites currently?
Click on Beijing. Then click on City Guides.
3 & 4. Choose two of these sites. Go through each one and summarize what you find. What do they have on them? What are some things to see? What is the history of the city? If they have a counter, what number are you?
Click on BACK and click on Education. Then click on Universities.
5. How many university websites are there?
6. Click on Beijing Institute of Technology. Glance through here and view their site. Contrast it with Georgia Southern's. How many books does their library have?
Click on Link to China Education Home Page.
Click on China Today. Click on Government.
7. What is the government of China like? Describe its government set-up, terms of office, etc.
8. Click on Back and then click General Information. What is its rank in the world in terms of size?
9. Which countries are larger?
10. How long is its coast line?
11. What seas border China?
12. What is the capital of China?
13. What is China's population?
14. List the birth and death rates of China.
Click on Chinese History. Then click on Timeline and Maps; then chronology of dynasties.
15. What was happening outside China when the Han dynasty reigned?
16. During the Dark Ages in Europe, which three dynasties were in power in China?
17. How long did the Ming Dynasty last?
18. How long did the Tang Dynasty last?
