1. Scroll down to Costa Rica and click on basic socio-economic data. How big is the country in square kilometers?

2. How many people does it have? What percentage is under 15?

3. What does this tell you about population trends for the next 5 or 10 years?

4. What percentage of the population lives in rural areas?

5. In 1994, what was the rate of unemployment? Is this good or not?

6. What has the GDP (Average Annual Growth Rate) been for 1987-1996?

7. CLICK BACK. Scroll down to Nicaragua and click on basic socio-economic data. How big is this country?

8. How many people does it have? What is its percentage under 15 years of age?

9. How will this affect its growth trends in the next few years?

10. Look at Nicaragua's unemployment rate for 1995. Compare with Costa Rica's. What is Nicaragua's and which is better?

11. Compare infant mortality rates. What is Nicaraguaís and what does this say about health care in the country?

12. What is the fertility rate and how will this affect population over the next decade or two if it remains constant?
