SUNSET, YOUR MEMORY WILL COLOR MY THOUGHTS WITH LOVE FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE

SUNSET was put to rest in her favorite sleeping tube surrounded with her toys. She was my loving friend for over eleven years and I'll miss her. What a joy she was. This webpage will stand as a memory to what a very special bird she was. I will miss her calls no matter how loud they were.

COLOR HER WITH LOVE
Sunset was sun conure hen. (aratinga solstitialis). She entered my life as a handfeeding baby and before I even knew what happened we were connected for life! She was my constant companion and friend. The love that she gave out to all who know her was worth whatever noise she chose to make.

COLOR HER GREEN
Baby Sun Conures are mostly green with orange and yellow interspersed. When I bought Sunset I thought she was beautiful and had no idea what a spectacular-colored bird she would become. The first time I saw an adult Sun I was convinced that she was a jenday and actually called a bird store to verify what baby Suns looked like!!! By one year old a Sun Conure will have most of their adult coloring, but will continue to get more yellow on their wings as they mature.

COLOR HER HIDING
Sunset enjoyed being "undercover". She loved being cozy and warm and she always enjoyed "Popping Up" from my shirt when I had visitors and surprising them. Not for the faint of heart!! Late nights would find me on the computer with Sunset fast asleep inside my top. She would get very upset when it was time for bed and it's time for her to go back in her cage. Badddd mommy!!

COLOR HER WELL-FED
A plate of food is to be shared!!! Sunsets favorites were COOL WHIP (remind me to tell you the "Cool Whip" story), potatoes, bread and Kentucky Fried Chicken (in that order). She was fed a balanced diet of pellets, bean/rice mix, sprouted seed, fresh fruits and veggies and assorted dried bird treats, but she so loved eating off my plate that I found it hard to resist her pleas. . . .just look at those eyes!!!!

COLOR HER ADORABLE
And talented too!!! Sunset is shown doing her favorite trick. She also gave kisses. She was a natural born performer and loved whatever attention was available at the moment. Visitors to my home would usually wind up with Sunset on their hand. . .on their shoulder. . .down their shirt. Her favorite people were her "aunts" Laurie, Maggie and Marilyn!!!
