Mountain Gorilla Facts



Here are some facts about Mountain Gorillas (Gorilla Gorilla Beringei)!


Only 620 mountain gorillas are left on Earth.
Mountain gorillas exist only in the Virunga Mountains of Rwanda, Zaire, and Uganda, and in one small forest, the Bwindi Impernetrable Forest, in Uganda.
The life expectancy of a mountain gorilla is between 35 and 50 years.
Mountain gorillas usually live and travel in groups of three to thirty individuals.
Silverbacks are male gorillas who develop a band of silver hair across their backs when they mature.
Mountain gorillas have been listed as an endangered species since 1970.
They are vegetarian forest dwellers and are under seige by poachers and fighting.
