Species: Andorian Homeworld: Andor
Andorians are a race of violent
humanoids. They are members of
the Federation and are unique
among member species in that
they possess both mammalian and
insectoid features such as limited
exoskeletons and large antennae.
At heart, the Andorians are a
warrior race with a long history of savage
conquest
This makes them strong allies and powerful adversaries.
An Andorian can easily be identified by it's
blue skin,
large antennae, and white hair.
Species: Argoan Aquan Homeworld: Argo
The Argoan Aquan are a water-
breathing humanoid race
with
webbed hands and feet, dorsal
fins, and greenish hair.
Seismic
activity of massive intensity caused
the land masses of Argo to sink
leaving only spotty islands to dot
the vast oceans. The Argoan's,
once air-breathers, decided to alter
themselfs genetically to adapt to ocean dwelling life.
Species: Aurelian Homeworld: Aurelia
Aurelians are graseful, birdlike
creatures with an adult wingspan
of approximately three meters.
Roughly humaniod in configuration
these bipedal, intelligent beings are
known for their fascination with
Federation history. They have
amassed one of the largest and
most comprehensive libraries of
UFP history any where, providing
a valuable record for Federation scholars.
Species: Bajoran Homeworld: Bajor
A member of a humanoid race from the
planet Bajor. Bajoran culture flourished
for thousands of years before Terran
culture did on Earth. A deeply spiritual
people, Bajor is known for producing
philosophers and artisans. Bajoran
culture suffered a serious decline during
the long a violent occupation at the hands of the Cardassians.
Bajorans can be identified by the distinctive
ridges on the
upper part of their noses and by the decorative earings
they
wear. Kira Nerys, Deep Space 9 liaison officer, is Bajoran.
Species: Benzite Homeworld: Benzar
Benzar's atmosphere is classified as a
Class M although it also contains rare
gases that are essential to the Benzite
respiratory system. These gases must
be carried by all Benzites who travel
off world. A small apparatus worn
around the neck delivers the gases in
a timed-released manner automatically.
Benzites are best known for their
computer programming skills and gaming prowess.
Species: Betazoid Homeworld: Betazed
Betazoids are a race of
humanoid
telepaths from the Federation planet of
Betazed. All Betazoids are born with
telepathic ability but it usually isn't fully
developed until they reach adolescence.
Betazoids are trained to filter out the
telepathic noise generated by
other
Betazoids. Many races find Betazoids
unnerving because of their ability to read minds, however,
Betazoids are conditioned to avoid
doing this without
permission. For obvious reasons, many
Betazoids are
employed as counselors and advisors because
of their
ability to sense emotions in other beings.
Lwaxana Troi
and her daugher, Deanna, are Betazoids.

Species: Borg Homeworld: Unknown
An incredibly powerful race of
cybernetically enhanced humanoids
who originated from the Delta
Quadrant of the galaxy. The Borg
implant themselves with cybernetic
devices to perform specific tasks as
well as substantially improve their effectiveness
in combat
situations. Each Borg is linked together through
a massive
group consciousness known as the Collective.
From here,
each Borg can be given constant supervision
and guidance
as well as the ability to share information and intelligence with
other members of the Collective. The Borg are an aggressive
and dangerous species that has laid waste to countless worlds
in their attempt to "assimilate" their knowledge, culture,
and
experiences. Few have survived encounters with the
Borg
and to this day, they remain one of the Federation's and Alpha
Quadrant's greatest threats.
Species : Bynar Home world : Bynaus
The Bynar are a unisexual
race and all give birth when
they reach maturity. Children
are born in pairs and are
psychically linked for their
entire lives. The Bynars reach
a height of four feet when
fully developed. Over many centuries the Bynars
have
become mentally linked to a central planetary computer
complex. Faternal Bynar pairs are so strongly linked that
they communicate in pairs,
alternating their speech.
Their primary language is a high speed chatter that sounds
similar to binary code.
Species: Caitian Homeworld : Cait
Caitians are a feline race of
humanoids. They have a thick
orange mane, long tail and
large golden eyes. They also
have excellent hearing and
specialize in communications
and sonic sciences
Species: Cardassian
Homeworld: Cardassia
Cardassians are an aggressive,
militaristic humanoid race from
the planet Cardassia. Until 2367,
the Cardassians were in conflict
with the Federation
and until
2369, they occupied and exploited
the planet and people of Bajor.
The average Cardassian is about 2
to 2.5 meters in height, has dark hair, pale greenish skin
and has very large neck muscles.
They also have a
distinctive indentation on their foreheads that has earned
them the unpleasant nickname of "spoon heads" by others.

Species: Excalbian Homeworld: Excalbia I
The Excalbians are a carbon-cycle race
of beings with a body chemistry based
on calcium carbonate who have the
ability to change the atmosphere and
enviroment to facilitate research and
contact with species. They have
no
apparent internal organs and appear to
be living rock
Species: Ferengi Homeworld: Feregenar
A technologically advanced humanoid
race known for their ruthless capitalistic
practices and business acumen. The
Ferengi are not aligned commercially or
militarily with the Federation or
any
other power in the Alpha Quadrant and
have formed their own trading guild
known as the Ferengi Commerce Association.
As a result,
they have dealings with planets from
all parts of the galaxy
even those considered enemies of the Federation. Considered
to be among the most successful businessmen in this side of the
galaxy, the average Ferengi appears about
2 meters tall, has
beige skin, and very large ears
that are believed to have
evolved from the Ferengi's
need to "listen for business
opportunities". Deep Space 9 bar owner
Quark, his brother
Rom and Grand Negaus Zek are Ferengi.

Species: Founder (Changelings) Homeworld: Unknown
The Founders are a race of shape-shifers
(Changelings) who established a vast and
powerful economic-military complex called
the Dominion within the Gamma Quadrant.
Hunted by other races to the
point of
extinction, the Founders developed
the
Jem'Hadar shock-troops and established
the Dominion as a means of protecting
themselves and maintaining order in their sector of space. They
now use these forces to extend their
will across the Gamma
Quadrant and beyond. All Founders have the power to change
their physical form at will but typically exist in a semi-gelatinous
state. There is also evidence that Founders share a group mind
and body in the form of a collective known as "The Great Link".
Deep Space Nine Security Chief Odo is a member of this species.

Species: Gorn Homeworld: Gornar
A race of large and immensely powerful
creatures. The first contact between the
Gorn and the Federation occurred at
Cestus III, when the entire Federation
colony on that planet was destroyed by
the Gorn on the justification that
the
colony was illegally located within their
borders. Since that time, the Gorn
have largely kept to
themselves. It is believed that they possess a similar level of
technology to that of the Federation and as such, could pose
a significant danger to the Federation if they chose
to wage
war against it. The Gorn are reptilian
in appearance with
greenish skin and measure approximately 2.5 to 3 meters tall.
They are unusual among other reptilian species encountered
in the galaxy in that they have insect-like compound eyes.
Species: Horta Homeworld: Janus VI
The Horta is a intelligent silicon-based life
form, with a life
span of about 60,000 years at which
time the entire race
save one dies out. The one left tends to the eggs and ensures
their save hatching. Discovered, after pergium miners broke
into one of the egg chambers, the Horta attacked the miners
in defense of her eggs resulting in the death of 56 miners and
a shutdown of the mining operation. The Enterprize
NCC-
1701 was sent to investigate. After a confrontation between
the Horta and Enterprize security teams, Spock found
the
Horta to be an intelligent life form and
through telepathic
communication was able to achieve not only
peace but a
working relationship in which the Horta created new tunnels
for the miners.
Species: Jem'Hadar Homeworld: Unknown
The Jem'Hadar, genetically engineered
warriors from the Gamma Quadrant,
were created by the Founders
to
enforce their will across the Gamma
Quadrant and space beyond.
The
Jem'Hadar are reptilian in appearance
and are incredibly strong. Powerful,
aggressive, and dedicated, they were bred for fighting and live
by a stern code of combat that makes them one
of the most
feared opponents that the Federation
has ever faced. The
Founders control the Jem'Hadar by creating
them physically
reliant on an addictive drug called Ketracine-White without this
substance on a regular basis,
the Jem'Hadar become so
aggressive that they will kill each other and will die.
Species: Kazon Homeworld: Trabe Homeworld
The Kazon are a ruthless nomadic people
who wander the space lanes of the Delta
Quadrant in search of prey and profit. The
Kazon were once an ethnic minority who
were oppressed by the Trabe, one of the
most technically advanced people in the
quadrant. After a long and bloody revolt,
the Kazon managed to overthrow their
oppressors and capture a number of large space craft which
became their fleet and new homes. The Kazon
are prone to
violence and are not very technologically
advanced. This,
coupled with the fact that their leadership is highly factionalized,
makes them dangerous but prevents them from wielding
their
power over large areas of the Delta Quadrant.

Species: Klingon Homeworld: Kro'noS
A member of an aggressive and war-like
humanoid race originally from the planet
Qo'noS. Klingons are a proud, tradition
based people who value bravery and
honor above all else. Their prowess as
warriors makes them a people that is
both feared and respected across the
Alpha Quadrant. Until the Khitomer
Accords of 2293, the Klingons were in
a chronic state of war with the
Federation. Klingons are a
physically powerful race and are able to sustain
considerable
injuries before dying. They can be
identified by the large
ridges on their foreheads and their
relatively dark skin.
Starfleet officer Worf, is a member of this species.

Species: Melkotian Homeworld: Melkot
Melkotians have a limited phyical body
with squarish heads and thick, rough
necks that narrow into small abdominal
areas with multiple tentacles. Movement
is accomplished by telekinesis and when
not at rest suspend themselfs in mid-air.
They use their great mental powers to
create intricate illusions in the minds of
their enemies. The Melkotians and are
xenophobic in
nature, having established a vast array of marker
buoys
as warning beacons to those who approach their space
and provide mental communications with
those who
encroach on their space.
Species: Ocampa Homeworld: Unknown
The Ocampa are a humanoid race from
the Delta Quadrant. They are peaceful
beings that possess powerful psychic
abilities. They live for the equivalent of
only nine Earth years. They were thought
of as children by the Caretaker, a non-
corporeal being that cared for them and
provided for all of their needs.
Kes, a member of the
Voyager's crew is a member of this interesting species.

Species: Phylosian Homeworld: Phylos II
Phylosians are intellegent plant
beings humanoid in shape with
heads, eye stalks and a central
body with many vine like
appendages for arms and legs.
Species: Q Homeworld: Q Continuum
A Q is an extradimensional entity that
dwells in the Q Continuum. Q's are
omnipotent and possess awesome
god-like powers. Q's tend to exhibit
child-like qualities and often use their
incredible power to amuse themselves.
Q's first made hemselves known to the
Federation during the maiden voyage
of Enterprise-D in 2364. However, several older species
have known about the existence of
the Q and even
Captain Kirk was believed to have
encountered a Q
known as Trelane.

Species: Romulan Homeworld: Romulus and Remus
Romulans are a warrior race from the
planets Romulus and Remus. They are
widely thought to be an off-shoot of the
Vulcan race that left Vulcan over
a
thousand years ago. Romulans are a
passionate, honorable and aggressive
species that have kept themselves in
relative isolation despite several violent
conflicts with the Federation and Klingon
Empire since
2160. Physically, Romulans look very much like
Vulcans
and to the untrained eye, it can often be difficult to tell them
apart. However, unlike Vulcans, Romulans
have great
difficulty controlling their emotions.

Species: Saurian Homeworld: Sauria
Sauria
best known for the production
of Saurian Brandy, a delicious alcoholic
beverage known as one of the best
drinks in the quadrant. Saurians are a
reptilian humaniod race with ruddy skin
and large yellow eyes. they have four
hearts which give them great strength
and endurance.
Species: Taurean Homeworld: Taurus II
Taureans are large anthropoid
creatures standing approximately
eighteen feet in height. Humanoid
in appearance, they live in small
nomadic groups that attack one
another constantly. Using crude
tools and hunting with spears, the
Taureans wear the furs of the animals
they kill.
Species: Talaxian Homeworld: Talax
The Talaxians are a highly
technically advanced humanoid
race from the Delta Quadrant.
They are a peaceful people
known for their propensity for
exploration and trade. Talaxians
are slightly shorter than the
average human and can be
identified by their distinctive hair patch and spotted skin
coloration. Neelix, Moral officer and
cook aboard
the U.S.S. Voyager is a member of this species.

Species: Talosian Homeworld: Talos IV
The Talosians are pale-skinned
humanoids of slight build with the
largest cranial structure of any
humanoid in the U F P. This race
of super-telepaths are capable of
making others see, hear, and feel
any thing they wish. Since this
power extends deep into space,
the entire sector has
been
quarantined with a penalty of
death under Fereration law (General Order Seven ).
General Order Seven is the only law on
the books
of the Federation with a death penalty. The Talosians,
nearly extinct and no longer able to reproduce
Species: Tellarites Homeworld: Tellar
Tellarites are a race of sturdy, porcine
humaniods with keen senses of smell
and hearing, while their eyesight is poor
Members of the Federation, Tellarites
are considered by many other member
races as aggressive and argumentative.
Despite this, they have a propensity for
all things technical and many Tellarites
serve in Starfleet as technicians and
engineers. A Tellarite can be identified by it's distinctive
snout and thick facial hair.

Species: Thallonian
Homeworld: Thallon
The Thallonians are a humanoid race that
once controlled a vast empire outside of
Federation space. Widely despised by
their subjects for their oppressive rule, the
Thallonian Empire has recently collapsed,
casting its member worlds into anarchy and chaos.
Thallonians are tall, physically powerful humanoids with
redish-brown skin. Ambassador Si Cwan is a Thallonian.
Species: Tholian
Homeworld: Tholia II.
The Tholians are a crystaline creature that
live in a searing hot methane gas enviroment.
Their vessels have an internal temperature in
excess of 500 degrees. They are members
of a hive culture and are modified at birth to
perform a specific function in adulthood,
resulting in many highly specialized outer
body configurations. The Tholian Web is the
primary weapon of the Tholian fleet
Species: Trill
Homeworld: Trill
A joined species that comprises a human
host with a small slug-like symbiont. The
symbiont resides in the abdomen of the
host. When joined, the symbiont and host
share personality and all the memories of
the symbiont's previous hosts. Symbionts
are extremely long-lived creatures that
join with their hosts until their host dies or
becomes injured. Once joined, both the
host and the
symbiont become biologically interdependent
and after
several days, neither can live apart. Deep Space 9 officer
Jadzia Dax is a Trill.

Species: Vorta
Homeworld: Unknown
Genetically engineered species from
the Gamma Quadrant that serve
The Dominion. The Vorta seem to
play several important roles within
The Dominion, including acting as
administrators, advisors, diplomats,
spies, and commanders of Jem'
Hadar shock troops. The Vorta
can be easily identified by their distinctive
ears. They
are known to be immune to many forms of poison and
are frequently cloned. They also worship Founders as
Gods.

Species: Vulcan
Homeworld: Vulcan (Vulcanis)
Vulcans are a peaceful humanoid
race native to the planet Vulcan.
Once a violent people, their society
evolved to embrace logic and
science as guiding principles. They
strive for achieving pure logical thought and total control over
their emotions. Vulcans are mong the founding members of
the Federation and they are believed to be the ancestors
of
the Romulan people. Vulcans tend to be physically stronger
than most humans and have slightly better hearing. They
can
be easily identified by their pointed ears.
Former Starfleet
officer and current Vulcan ambassador Spock is a
member
of this species.
Species: Tribble Homeworld:
Tribbles are furry little creatures
which were hunted almost to
extinction by the Klingons,
after they destroyed most of the
Klingon grain supply. Their only
discernable function in life is to
eat and reproduce.
