03.02.2001 White Stork in Art
Stork is eating a Snake./Bartholomaeo Anglicus,15th century/ |
| | During history of art birds were very often subjects of artistic works:in paintings, photographs, documentary films, experimental films, video-art, animated films etc. Colourful, pleasant when singing and free while flying they have been adorned from the ancient times. From Dedalus and Ikarus people have tried to imitate them, so they made metal birds for flying by; Indians have tried to use their magic, especially of eagles and falcons. Many artists painted them in nature surroundings ,in realistic or abstract way (sometimes, unfortunately, dead as Natura morte), many video artists used their subliminal power, and many writers wrote stories about their specific types of behaviour. White Stork is one of the most popular birds especially in country side. Connected with babies, Stork is deeply in folk tradition and stories. Elegant and clean, devoted to her little storks and same old nest, White Storks became the principle of Parenthood. They are the symbol of ecologicaly clean area, and as the old painting shows White Stork is useful in nature balancing, and can be very brave and strong.
