The
Mighty Mighty Teal Page
To all those who don't
know me, my name is
John Teal.
Currently, I'm a yuk
at USMA,
the United States Military Academy. At any given
time you can find me either working, running, or on
the phone with my girlfriend Jen
Running
Running
has to be one of my true passions in life. It started in 7th grade
track and has continued to this point 8 years later. Right now I'm
on the Army track team as an 800/1000 meter guy, although I fear coach
is going to stick me in the mile whether I like it or not.
I ran a 1:55.8 in high school and it took me a few years to eclipse that, but eventually I got my legs back. I ran a 1:53.5 in the 800 open at RPI and a pair of high 1:51 relay legs in the 4x800. At our last meet this year (IC4As) my team ran a 7:29.1, which was good for All-East and 7th place. It might not sound like much, but there must be a hundred teams in the region who we outran. The guys were Dave Kasza, me, J.T. Edwards and Ryan Lundberg. I'll get a picture up as soon as I get the money to develop my film. The picute I do have is one of me finishing the Columbus Marathon when I was 16. The
time is horrifying, but after 26 miles I didn't care what the clock said.
I'll do it again someday, and I'll do it better.
I also love to BIKE,
even though I don't get the chance to do much of that around here.
Right now I ride a carbon fiber Peugot. For the past 3 years I've
had a great time on GOBA, the Great Ohio Bike
Adventure. It's a great chance to get tan biking all day, and
get fat sampling the down-home food every night. Check it out where
it's going this year.
JGK
Jenny Knight and I have been dating for almost 3 years now.
There have been a lot of points in time when I thought I'd seen the last
of her, but things kept working out and now it looks like we're going to
be together for the duration. This past Spring I bought her the ring and now we're going to get married sometime shortly after I graduate. I had no intentions of getting committed so early, but she's definitely worth it.
As a
freshman Jen went to Indianna U., but now she's at Miami
of Ohio. She's a Public Admin major, whatever that means.
All that matters to me is that she's beautiful, intelligent, and commited--
what more can you ask for?
Life
at West Point...
Like I already wrote, I'm a
yuk (sophomore) at West Point. It's a whole lot better than being
a plebe, but I still wish I was elsewhere on a daily basis. There's
a lot of work ot be done and not many venues to have fun. On the other
hand, it's a good school that's totally free.
As I
write I'm a Portuguese/Spanish double major with a Environmental Science
track. But of course this is all subject to change. A lot of
people back home wonder why I chose the major I did because I can barely
speak either language, but there are a few good reasons for it. Namely,
the class of 2000 has failed more math and physics than any other
class in USMA's history, and I fit the sterotype very well. I'm lucky
I've passed everything so far. The foreign language department is
fun, easy, and they have yet to ask me to perform integration.
