The World of a Child
This drawing may not be perfect it was inspired by a child of almost 4, but look within it
at what is there. This is the world our future finds important. Not the city buildings, or
the cars and pollution. When a child picks up a crayon they draw a simple house and concentrate
on the outside. When I draw a picture for my sons they ask me to put trees there, ask for the
pretty flowers to be drawn. For the sun to be bigger and smile down on us. For there to be grass
to play in. For there to be apples on the trees. I asked my son what he wanted when I did this.
Notice the clouds in the sky, and the birds flying about. He asked me to put people in the picture
Told me to put a smile mouth and eyes, and the fingers and feet. These are the things that he see's
important.
Notice he didn't ask for me to put trash on the ground , or smoggy in the sky, or a color to the house.
We should be as lucky as this , to make the simple things important. The trees, the sky , the animals,
the grass and the flowers. We need to look to our children sometimes to see what the future needs to be.
Have you ever met a child that didn't ask for trees and flowers? In what we as adults find a simple
picture? We think their drawings sweet or cute. We give them kisses and smiles when they bring to us the dandelion.
A weed that we kill without thought or concern. These are the things that put the smile upon their face.
This is what we need to protect our world for! For the children that are all of our future. So they may always
be able to find the wonder in a thing as simple as tree. For there to be a future for them we must PROTECT our earth.
For without us protecting it all that will be left is the empty house void of all life!
