Introduction

I am always happy to answer queries about Wildtrak. However, often people have very similar questions which are asked many times. Therefore I have assembled a list of frequently asked questions about Wildtrak which is worth looking at before you contact me as you will not have to wait for me to reply. If you still can't find the answer to a question then please don't hesitate to email me about Wildtrak or other radio-tracking related issues.

Can I try out Wildtrak before I buy?

Yes. There is a demonstration version of Wildtrak available for download. This will allow you to use the first 100 fixes of you dataset for some of the analyses. Printing and saving functions are disabled.

Is Wildtrak available for PCs?

Unfortunately not. There are still more features I would like to include in Wildtrak for the Macintosh before I could consider using the time to port the program over to the PC. There are, of course, other programs available for use on the PC. You might like to download a review of comparisons between PC home range programs.

When will there be a new version of Wildtrak?

A new version of Wildtrak is currently being programmed. The current expected release date of Wildtrak 2 is early 1997. Time limited beta copies will be available for download soon!

What analyses and features will the new version have?

There will be many new features and an improved used interface. Information is available on the latest information about Wildtrak 2.

How much will the new version cost?

A single user copy of Wildtrak 2 will cost 150 GBP plus postage costs. This will include an extensive manual.

Will existing users be entitled to discounted upgrades?

Yes. For a limited time after Wildtrak 2 is released existing users will be able to upgrade for 30 GBP (single user copy). After that, the upgrade from Wildtrak 1 will cost 50 GBP (single user copy)

Why won't Wildtrak work on my new PowerMac?

Wildtrak will work on PowerMacs but often you will have to modify the system slightly in order for it to work. Some initial suggestions for things to try are:

There is no student discount available but please contact me if you are a student who would like to use Wildtrak but do not have sufficient funds available. Multiple user copies are also available at discounted rates:
