GREENHOUSE TOURS

All of my plants grow in my garden and receive very little care other than watering on hot days and during dry spells. They get some fertilizer thrown at them when I can remember but that is not often. I check them regularly during growing season for various pests, but particularly the Dendrobium Beetle. The mix in the pots is made up of mostly matured pine bark with pebbles or quartz chips.

The general weather conditions are minimum 6 degrees Celsius in winter up to 30 degrees or more in summer. A couple of years back we had a day where temperature rose to 46 degrees Celsius and plants exposed to direct sunlight got cooked. I have not seen frost in the 12 years I have lived in the area although further west they get frosts.

All of these plants are native Australian species or hybrids and all are cool growing. I have some of the tropical species but they are not in flower at this time. I grow those in a glasshouse.

Lastly, I am sending seed of most of these species to the Aaron Hicks seed bank, if I can beat the bugs back - but note some are very slow to mature.
