GREENHOUSE TOURS

I have been growing orchids since my 6th grade teacher gave me an epidendrum and a cymbidium backbulb. They both died quickly but I still was hooked and went on from there. That was in 1949. I have had three greenhouses. The first two were at my parents' house and now the third one is at my home. It is 14 x 20 ft and covered with saran shadecloth that also covers the outdooor cymbidium area.

I grow (or try to!) all types of orchids but have finally settled down to Phalaenopsis, Paphiopedilums and Phragmipediums. I do have a few Lycastes that are beginning to do better now that I have started to use "Wundergrow" fertilizer. Of course a true orchidophile has many plants that don't fall in the special interst areas and I have many - too many I think at times.
