SHADEHOUSE
Inside the shadehouse, sunlight is diffused, the spectrum largely unaltered. The porous fabric permits air movement and even some light misting during heavy rain. The fabric serves as a windbreak and as a heat trap in windy or chilly weather. Three layers of cloth provide about 75% shade. It is possible to place plants inside in May/June, directly from my indoor setup, with no risk of burning the foliage. Vanda tessellata, Miltonia Honolulu and Lc. Memoria Evelyn Light are a few of the orchids that flourish in the shadehouse.
