SHADEHOUSE
My shadehouse measures 8' x 10' and is just over 8' high at the peak. The construction is spruce framework and shelving, cedar base plate and plastic jointing (from a kit). The frame is covered with two to three layers of spunwoven polypropylene floating row cover (Reemay). This is stapled into the wood. The cloth lasts at least two years. The house sits on bare, level ground. To avoid slipping and also to keep weeds under control, the floor is covered in landscape fabric which has been stapled to the cedar footings. We constructed a similar shadehouse at our show within 3 hours using precut wood. The total cost of materials is just over $200.
