Poured, Fired, Unglazed
Porcelain Pots
as Orchid Mounts
- Pour porcelain slip into mold, remove pot and while still wet cut four holes in top for rope hanger.
- Clean piece as usual.
- Fire, but do not glaze.
- Nylon rope makes the hanging "handles".
- Tie a young seedling over the web mount. For Epc. Vienna Woods, I cut a 2" web pot down one side, and cut out the bottom. Place a thin mat of sphagnum on pot side, cover with the web pot strip and tie down using nylon fishing line.
- At each watering, overflow from the water in the pot also waters the plant, adding micro-nutrients.
- AND THE RESULTS! In August-September 1998, I was rewarded with the fourth blooming of Epc. Vienna Woods - with four of those perky green and white blooms...a delicious blend of C. guttata var. alba and Enc. mariae.
