Slide 3. North side of greenhouse and pumphouse:
The north side of the greenhouse provides the mounting point for all greenhouse systems. Originally inside, the water system was enlarged and moved outside and a shed built around it, and the swamp cooler, for better appearance. Because of water with high sodium content in our area, orchid water is reverse osmosis (RO) processed and doped with minerals. The pumphouse holds two 55 gallon drums of processed RO water, a pressurizing pump and tank to supply the water needed inside the greenhouse at 80 psi. Water feeds through the north wall into a series of black ABS 2 in. pipe sections where it is solar heated before going to either spigots, sprayers or Dosatron for fertilizer injection.
In addition to the pumphouse, the north side of the greenhouse holds storage for fertilizers, planting mix and accessories.
Inside the greenhouse, on the north wall is the gas wall furnace which supplies all necessary heat during the cooler times. Next to the wall furnace is a backup electric heater, just in case.
