Okay, so there are some non-orchid examples here. But they are often found in the same places as orchids, both terrestrial and epiphytic, in the Central and South American jungles. They are frequently used as landscaping objects in Hawaii and, unlike orchids, have very pretty foliage. They simply don't compare flower-wise, though some do have a spectacular inflorescence. I hope to do a Part 3 to this chat which will show a few more bromels.
The ones shown here are planted out along the driveway as terrestrials (actually, they are more like lithophytes) even though a couple of the one's shown are normally epiphytes.
