Possibly a Schombocatt or Laeliaocatt

This appears to be a cattleya alliance hybrid with one of the purple bifoliates and possibly a schomburgkia, though laelia is possible too. Like so many orchids that have been around for a while, this one didn't have a tag, so there's no real way of knowing for sure. Whatever the parentage, it is striking in bloom. The plant is large (about 12 - 16 inches tall) with good-sized flowers held high. It was picked up by the neighbors at a swap meet for the specific purpose of landscaping with it, after I showed them how easy it was.
