Mrs. Mary Octiva Martin was born Oct. 25, 1850 at Centralia, and died at 4:15 P.M. Wednesday Jan. 29, 1941 at the home of her son, W.W. Martin, after a lingering illness.
She was married Aug. 5, 1874 to John L. Martin, who preceeded her in death 26 years. To this union was born seven children, four of whom survive as follows: W. W. Martin, Miss Mae Martin, and Mrs. E.R. Womack of Groveton, and Mrs. C.J. Alexander of Centralia. She is also survived by nine grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.
All of Mrs. Martin's children were at her bedside when death came.
She united with the Baptist Church at an early age, having worked faithfully as long as her health permitted.
Pallbearers were grandsons of hers: Clyde and Newt Alexander, Oly, J.L. and E.R. Womack and W.E. Howard.

Funeral services for Miss Adella Mae Martin were held at the Biscamp Funeral Home Chapel, Groveton, Friday July 7th, 1972 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Newton Hanrick officiating. Interment in Calvary Cemetery.
Miss Martin was born in Centralia, November 23, 1890 and passed away in Groveton Hospital July 6, 1972. She was a resident of Trinity County for several years and a member of the First Baptist Church of Calvary for many years. She had lived in Houston for 25 years and was employed by Sears Roebuck for several years.
Survivors include a host of nieces, nephews and many friends.

Graceside services were held at 2 P.M. Tuesday at the Calvary Cemetery in Trinity County for Miss Cora Gertrude Martin, 75, of Centralia. Dr. Arthur De Loach, pastor of the First Baptist Church in Lufkin, officiated.
Miss Martin was born September 30, 1878, in Trinity County. She was a member of the Baptist church.
Miss Martin died Monday at the home of her sister, Mrs. B.C. Hutson in Centralia.
Survivors include five sisters, Mrs. A.H. West, Mrs. Fred Womack, Mrs. B.C. Hutson, of Centralia, Mrs. Howard Redd of Wells, and Mrs. Carl Harrott of Westville; one brother, Odis Martin of Wells and a number of nieces and nephews.
The Oakley-Metcalf Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Bama Horn Martin was born Sept. 20, 1890, in Trinity county and died at her home here on Sunday night at 10 P.M. after an illness of several months.
She united with the Baptist Church early in life and has lived a true Christian life consistently, was a good wife, mother, neighbor and made friends whereever she went.
She is survived by her husband, W.W. Martin; one son, Donald, Groveton; Father, F.A. Horn; Step-Mother, Mrs. F. A. Horn; eight sisters- Mrs. Edna Pike, Stafford; Mrs. R.E. Donald Martin was born Feb. 18, 1918, and died July 16, 1939, en route to Livingston Hospital.
He was a member of the Baptist church.
He was married on March 1, 1939, to Miss Pauline Limbrough of Jacksonville.
His survivors are: His wife and father, W.W. Martin and Grandmother Martin of Groveton: and several Aunts and Uncles.
Funeral services were held at Calvary cemetery at 10:30 a.m. Monday by Rev. W.A. Reagan, under the direction of Biscamp Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were: Oly Womack, Weldon Howard, Clyde Clark, Wineton Rush, Clyde Alexander and Jake Bazar.
"TWO KILLED INSTANTLY; TWO DIED EN ROUTE TO HOSPITAL AND ONE DIED IN HOSPITAL TUESDAY."
Two persons were killed instantly, two died en route to the hospital, and eight others were injured in an accident which occurred at Kemper's Branch, about one mile north of Groveton at about 3:30 a.m. Sunday. The twelve were riding in a 1937 pickup, bought Saturday at a local car agency by John Willie Blair, when the vechicle hit the concrete bridge at about the center of the truck, after striking two wooden bridge guards, uprooting one which fell into the water below. The impact of the crash divided the truck in two, with the exception of the bed. Mr. Best from Houston, driving toward Lufkin, had previously passed the truck, and hearing the crash, turned and came back to the scene of the tragedy and then droce into Groveton to call the ambulance.
Poston Lane died Tuesday afternoon, his death making the fifth.
The sound of the crash was so loud that the night Groveton nightwatchman is said to have heard it. Local people were called to the scene, and the two Biscamp ambulaneces answered the call taking the nine who were seriously injured to the Livingston Hospital, after a local physician had given hypodermics to the nine unconscious victems. Two died en route to the hospital, Donald Martin of Groveton and Buford Gilmore of Penington. The crash threw Donald Martin about 100 feet. Killed instantly were Mrs. Ruby Pillows of Groveton and John Willie Blair of Pennington.
According to the best information obtainable, Donald Martin was riding the left fender of the truck and J.L. Womack was riding the other fender. Seeing that the accident was going to occur, J.L. jumped from the truck onto the grassey embankment. He sustained neck injuries, two sprained ankles and other bruises, and was the only surviving victem of the death truck that was not taken to the hospital.
The Biscamp ambulances were at the hospital in Livingston within an hour after the accident.
Bodies were laying on and near the highway bridge almost to the home of Mrs. Albert Reese. Flashlights and carlights were used to find the bodies, the number of which was uncertain. Local people state that this accident is one of the worst to ever happen here.
The injured are: Charles Dias of Pennington, broken nose and chest injury, hip and leg injury; Pat McConnell, Pennington, fractured skull, three broken ribs and internal injury; Taft Avery, Pennington, three broken ribs and face lacerations; Clifton Bailcy, Sylvester, face lacerations and bruises, dismissed from hospital Monday; Poston Lane, Pennington, lacerated face, ear and internal injuries; Garth Horn, Friendship, dislocated hip, bruises and cuts about face; Hiram Ellis, Saron, broken leg; and J.L. Womack, who is at his home here.
Poston Lane died at the hospital Tuesday afternoon at 3:15, having never regained consciousness. It is reported that the others injured will live although some will likely have lasting effects from injuries.

Mrs. Womack was born in Trinity county, January 8, 1883 and passed away in Groveton, January 28, 1971. She was a resident of Trinity County, Texas, her entire life and was a member of the Church of Christ of Groveton most of her life.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Nalma Purdue, Corrigan and Mrs. Jessie Faye DeLaFosse, Lufkin: three sons, Oly Womack, and J.L. Womack, both of Groveton and E.R. (Pete) Womack of Lufkin; one sister, Miss Mae Martin of Groveton, 9 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

Mr. Otis Martin, 62, passed away Tuesday morning in a Lufkin hospital following an extended illness.
Mr. Martin was born March 31, 1899 in Trinity county and had resided in Wells for the past 18 years where he was employed by the Sessions Grocery.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Otis Martin of Wells, three daughters, Mrs. J.R. Merriweather of Alto, Mrs. R.M. Smith of Vidor, and Miss Annette Martin of Wells; four sons, Melton Martin, Otis Martin, Jr., and William Martin, all of Lufkin, and Morris Martin of Wells; five sisters, mrs.
