Welcome to Sylvia's
"Photo Friends"
This is the special place at Sylvia's Kitty Condo where we are pleased to be able to share with you some of the very special furry friends who we have met along the course of our dear girls journey. As our "extended family" of friends grows, so too grows the love which fills our family's hearts.
This cuddle ball of joy is Snow, a
long distance friend of ours who snuggles with her family in Japan. Dear Snow is bravely battling the sarcoma monster as she looks forward
to relocating with her family to the land of paradise in Hawaii. Snow
is a real mommy's girl as she just loves to cuddle up on her mom's shoulder and bury her
face under her hair. When a Grandchild in their family was born, Snow
became a little jealous one day when as her mom was burping her. Not
one to be left out, Snow approached her mom and starting
nudging the grandbaby to her mom's left shoulder because the right shoulder is hers!
Snow also loves to let her family know when its time
to turn in for the evening, as she will stand in the hall and cry until everyone comes to
cuddle with her for the night. Please hold dear Snow
and her family close in your daily thoughts and prayers in the hope that she becomes one
of the miracle kitty's who forever defeats the sarcoma monster.
This is a picture of Skunky, a dear
furry friend of our family who after a valiant battle with the sarcoma monster has made
that heartfelt journey across the Rainbow Bridge. Skunky was
one of six indoor fur babies in her family, and she always wanted to be the "special" one, so she would copy many furry habits from her
older brother Charlie. Skunky always had to be by her
mom's side--all day as she did housework, by her side at night as she slept, and above her
on the sofa with her paw on her shoulder as she watched TV. Skunky
had a furry dislike for their family's answering machine. Whenever anyone would try to
leave a message, Skunky would hear the voice coming out of
the machine and pounce repeatedly on the buttons on the phone until she turned the machine
off! Skunky's mom had a difficult time explaining to her
friends just why she hadn't returned their phone calls, as they thought she was making up
stories about her fur baby erasing the phone messages.
Please include Skunky's family in your daily thoughts and
prayers in the hope that they take comfort in the knowledge that their dear girl is now
frolicking together with Sylvia and all of their special furry friends in the land of love
and comfort.
This is a picture of Neige (on the
left) and Puffy, two furry siblings who while never having
met one another, unfortunately shared in the difficult battle against the sarcoma monster.
After a valiant battle against VAS, dear Neige made
that heartfelt journey across the Rainbow Bridge in June of 1999. With the tender
loving assistance of her family dear Puffy joined
her furry sibling in the land of love and comfort in November of 2000.
Neige (meaning snow in French) was an elegant purr lady who
politely reigned over their family's household for eleven years. Neige loved food and was a proficient and patient beggar who would
make noises for her favorite snacks of brie cheese as well as bites of fish and turkey.
Her long time surviving partner, 17 year old Merlin,
always "worked along" with dear Neige to plan
escapes into regions of their house which were off limits due to an inviting indoor
planter. (they were referred to as the furry Bonnie and Clyde of their household!)
One of Neige's favorite non-food related activities was bird
watching from the family room bay widow where she could see a variety of feathered
friends.
Dear Puffy was 4 years old and puffy as her name suggests.
She was born and raised in Davis CA. as a companion to her elder sibling Figaro. Puffy and Figaro served as loyal feline roommates to their human while away
at college. Puffy never had the pleasure of meeting her
furry cousins Neige and Merlin,
even while visiting during her college years nor while awaiting the construction of her
furry 2 story, 660sq.ft. cottage. Puffy
enjoyed bird and
moth watching, snuggling with her furry sibling Figaro and
napping on the bed pillows or window seats.
Please include Neige and Puffy's
family in your
daily thoughts and prayers in the hope that with each and every passing day,
their hearts begin to heal from the heartache of having to say "until"
to their beloved Angel babies.
This comfy cuddling furry friend is Sasquatch. An otherwise healthy and happy 12 year old gal, Sasq as her family calls her, now faces a future of dealing with the sarcoma monster. The mass was discovered and diagnosed July '00 and the following month Sasq had radical surgery to remove the tumor--a very hard decision to make but a lot of research, questions and hope guided Sasq & her family to the best option they could find. Heartfelt gratitude goes out to BAVS - Bay Area Veterinary Specialists. Thanks to Dr. Davis (Surgeon), Dr. Siedlecki (Oncologist) & crew for their stellar care. The excision went into Sasq's abdomen wall & a lot of tissue and some muscle had to be removed but she has made a full recovery from the surgery and now the focus is on keeping the cancer at bay. Attention is on her food, special herbs and vitamins. A catscan helped determine where surgery needed to go to achieve a clean margin. The surgery steps taken thus far are to be the only ones - a holistic care approach is Sasq's present and future. Each day as it always has been is most special and Sasq will continue to have comfort, happiness, peace and love for the rest of her amazing life. Sasq's thick fur almost entirely grown back is like velvet and her paws complete with 6 toes are her namesake. Sasq likes to simply hang out at home with her mom and on the patio in the sun but takes neighborly strolls to visit her furry friends. Sasq revels in the simple life but enjoys trips to Florida to visit her Grandma and observe the lizards from the lanai. She finds the car unnerving but loves soaring at high furry altitudes through the sky. Sasq was born in Connecticut where Allison (her mom) sought her out and lived her kitten years in Colorado where she frolicked in the mountain snow and for the past 5 years has been enjoying beautiful Northern California. When small, Sasq would sleep on her mom's chest, fitting snuggly under her chin. Now she sleeps by Allison's side or snuggles into her legs or on her stomach when snoozing on the couch. Sasq's favorite cat nap locations change from time to time but she has her "special" chair by the window. Sasq loves the occasional treat of milk or yogurt (organic of course) and may share some turkey from Allison' sandwich on occasion. On one of her birthday's, Sasq's Grandma made lobster for her and that was a BIG treat! Sasq's color is pink - to match her little pink nose and paw pads which reminds some of a good n' plenty. Sasq's bright eyes are a tranquil sea green and hold so much love & trust. A furry feline friend Dart Ellen, the calico neighbor kitty, keeps an eye on Sasq when Allison is at work or traveling (usually tucked away under Allison's comforter). One of Sasq's favorite canines is Rooty - the friendly pooch who visits from Lake Tahoe - but "The Guys" (back in CT) have places in her heart. Sasq is a warm fuzzy to all that cross her path and the bond between she and her mom goes to the core. Please send your positive thoughts and energy to Sasq and her family in the hope that their lives are filled with as much love, peace and comfort as possible during this difficult journey which so many families share in.
