Welcome to Sylvia's
"Photo Friends"
This is the special place at Sylvia's Kitty Condo where we are pleased to be able to share with you some of the very special furry friends who we have met along the course of our dear girls journey. As our "extended family" of friends grows, so too grows the love which fills our family's hearts.
This big handsome furry friend of our family is Lance. Lance was welcomed into his family's hearts and home more than 11 years ago when he was just a six month old little fur baby. Dear Lance was adopted from a local animal shelter and was chosen not only for his very affectionate nature but also because he has the most amazing purr.
Lance has always been an extremely friendly fur baby and has never shown the slightest fear of anyone who has come into his family's house. Lance is noted for his habit of sleeping on his back, as he just loves to stretch out under a bush in the sunshine.
Another of Lance's loving habits involves his desire to always be in the middle of things, as he likes to sit on papers, whether it be newspapers or a family members term paper<grin>. If a member of his family is reading and he feels that he is not getting enough attention, he will sit on the book or magazine or whatever they happen to be reading.
Please send your positive and loving energy to Lance and his family in the hope that they are able to enjoy as MUCH love, peace and comfort as possible during this difficult part of their life's journey.
This beautiful Empress kitty is Mishku, a furry friend of our family who after a long and valiant battle against the sarcoma monster, has now made that heartfelt journey across the Rainbow Bridge.
This picture was taken during happier times when Mishku and her family were in the process of remodeling their home. During this construction, a few mice decided to take up temporary residence in Mishku's furry kingdom.
Exhibiting her true loving nature, dear Mishku never attempted to hurt her tiny tailed friends. Mishku just played with them a little while before her father caught them and set them loose outside their home where they scurried away.
While our family shares in the heartache that Mishku's family is having to experience as a result of having to say "until" to their dear girl, we take comfort in knowing that Mishku and Sylvia are now frolicking together in the land of love and comfort.
Please include dear Mishku's family in your thoughts and prayers in the hope that with each and every passing day, their hearts begin to fill with joy in remembrance of the lifetime of loving memories that they spent cuddling together.
These two beautiful Canadian fur babies are Aslan (left) and Merlin. Not only is dear Merlin bravely battling the sarcoma monster, but he also had to say "until" to his furry sibling Aslan, who after successfully battling VAS, crossed over the Rainbow Bridge due to a thyroid disease.
Aslan was quite the character and quite a complex character at that. Smart as a whip, outdoors he was a force to be reckoned with. Several neighborhood dogs learned that lesson after venturing into his family's yard, as size never intimidated this furry boy!
Indoors, Aslan was an extremely affectionate and often constant companion to his family.
Aslan had many brushes with death, including being hit by a car, feline leukemia, salmonella
poisoning, fibrosarcoma as well as a stroke to name but a few. Aslan's furfixer often told his family that their dear boy was as "tough as nails", and while his toughness paid off, through it all dear Aslan was a good natured boy with a big and kind heart.
Dear Merlin is a four year old Maine Coon kitty who was welcomed into his family's hearts and home after the passing of Aslan and another furry family member named Persephone.
Merlin is quite the gentleman, which is a very good thing because he grew from being just a little 16 week old 7 1/2 pound fur baby into a big 15 pound fur boy. Merlin has a very long and slender physique, and when standing on his hind feet, Merlin can reach all the way up and put his front paws on his parent's chest's.
Merlin enjoys monitoring the household appliances, chasing the beater bar on the vacuum, studying the dishwasher and sleeping on top of the dryer when it is running.
Though appliances do not bother him in the least, he is quite nervous with people he doesn't
know. Merlin is very loving with his family and likes hanging out with his younger Maine Coon brother Mandrake. Merlin also likes to check out most of his family's household activities, usually with Mandrake in tow. Wherever a human is in the house, these two fur boy's can usually be found together.
Please say a very special prayer for dear Merlin and his family in the hope that their lives are blessed with as much comfortable and quality cuddle time together during this difficult part of their dear boy's nine lives journey.
