Welcome to Sylvia's
"Photo Friends"
This is the special place at Sylvia's Kitty Condo where we are pleased to be able to share with you some of the very special furry friends who we have met along the course of our dear girls journey. As our "extended family" of friends grows, so too grows the love which fills our family's hearts.
These two cuddling cuties are ZsaZsa
(left) and Samsoni. With the loving assistance of
his human and furry family, dear Samsoni is bravely
battling the sarcoma monster.
Samsoni and ZsaZsa are
littermates who were adopted from a local shelter eleven years ago when they were
just eight weeks old. Samsoni and ZsaZsa
have always brought lots of fun and joy into their family's lives. Samsoni is definitely in charge when it's important to him, but
ZsaZsa handles her furry brother quite well. Samsoni
is a big cuddle bear, as when a family member picks him up, he just loves to wrap his big furry arms around
their necks and mush his nose into their ears. Samsoni
loves to eat and has rarely missed a meal. Samsoni
also loves to jump into his moms bed every morning and cuddle up real close.
He gives his mom little head butts like an alarm clock to let her know that it's time for breakfast.
Please light your special prayer candles for dear Samsoni
and his family in the hope that they are able to enjoy many more cuddle filled
years together.
These special friends of our family are Chessie
and her Mom. After a valiant battle with the sarcoma monster, dear Chessie
has now made that heartfelt journey across the Rainbow Bridge.
While Chessie's Mom is no longer able to hold her
dear girl in her arms, rest assured that her family will forever hold their
Angel very close in their hearts.
In loving memory of their special girl, Chessie's
family wanted to share a little furry family history with all the members of our
"extended family".
Chessie was born in March of 1982, a beautiful, fearless kitten. She lived a long full life, using all of her 9 lives! Her first six years were spent as a Southern California Cat, spending hour by hour bathing in the sun. We then moved to Vaughn, Washington where
Chessie was able to wander in the woods, walk on the beach ,drink from a spring fed pond, and munch on acres of fresh grass. She loved her sunny days, sitting with her paws outstretched, eyes closed, fur warm.
Chessie has lived with a myriad of cousins. Tasha Cat, our one-eyed, beautiful gray girl who was
Chessie's first cousin, they were together 14years. Duffy, a lovable yellow Lab who we lost at an early age to cancer.
Chessie cared for both Tasha and Duffy when they were ill, she was like that with me, as well. She had her own agenda, but was ALWAYS aware of who needed her attention and she spent hours snuggling with the ailing friend. Nel, a sheltie mix, dear and loyal; Tobey, a yellow
lab, nephew to our Duffy; Bogey a very rowdy yellow tabby; and Smudge and Jack, black and white, furry brothers have all been
Chessie's family along with Harvey, her step dad and myself. And not to forget her Uncle Carl, Bud and Bob who took such good care of her whenever Harv and I had to be away.
I discovered the insidious lump on Chessie's right hip on Thanksgiving Day 2000, then only marble-sized. By Tuesday, as big as a golf ball. After tests, our girl was diagnosed with fibrosarcoma.
We spent those terrifying days loving her, as I had loved her all of her 18 years and giving her all of her favorite things. She was so brave and undaunted, walking around with that grapefruit-sized monstrosity on her little body, still begging to go out in the sun, begging for turkey, tuna, whatever her brave heart desired.
Chessie passed on January 8th in my arms. I know that strong courageous spirit will find it's way back to this Earth, and I pray she may find her way back to our family, to love us and to be loved by us for many years to
come.
This tree climbing fur baby is Gus. After
a brave and valiant battle with the sarcoma monster, Gus
has made that heartfelt journey to the land of love and comfort. Gus
was welcomed into his family's hearts and lives back in 1988 when his mother
fell in love with him while visiting the local animal shelter. She had
only intended to adopt a little black and white fur baby, but when this other
little fur baby (soon to be named Gus) leaped up on
the cage and wailed at the top of his lungs, their hearts were forever
joined!!
Over the next
9 years Gus enjoyed the company of his furry brothers and sisters
and he always helped his mom when she was sick by laying on her chest. Gus
also loved to cheer his Mom up when she was sad by bringing her a
furry mouse to throw and play fetch with. Gus
faithfully followed his Mom everywhere and loved to sleep with her at night. Gus'
MOST favorite thing in the world was to lay on the concrete outside their door
and roll around in the sun.
Gus' Mom says that her dear boy used to always
smile while enjoying this favorite furry habit of his and their family takes
comfort in knowing that their dear Angel boy is now rolling around in the land
of love and comfort with all of his special furry cuddle mates.
