Welcome to Sylvia's

"Photo Friends"

This is the special place at Sylvia's Kitty Condo where we are pleased to be able to share with you some of the very special furry friends who we have met along the course of our dear girls journey. As our "extended family" of friends grows, so too grows the love which fills our family's hearts.

This handsome picture posing friend of our family is Mr. Diggs. Mr. Diggs is blessed to have a loving family helping him during this difficult part of his nine lives journey.
In loving tribute to their dear boy, Mr. Diggs Mom composed a heartfelt furry family history to share with everyone.
Please light your special prayer candles in the hope that Mr. Diggs and his family are blessed with as MUCH love, peace and comfort as possible during this difficult journey that has united the lives and hearts of SO many feline loving families.

In honor of Mr. Diggs:

Mr. Diggs is our beautiful black and white Main Coon cat.  I say cat instead of kitty, because this biography will be posted on the Internet. Mr. Diggs would be very embarrassed to be called our “kitty”.  He is the patriarchal leader of our 4-legged family  members.  When our kitty Matriarch, CC Silver, (Who by the way would not have  minded being called kitty) passed over the Rainbow Bridge a few years ago, Mr. Diggs proudly accepted his new role, and takes his job very seriously.  The other members of our 4-legged family (4 more kitty’s, and 2 canine friends) respect and love Mr. Diggs dearly.
Mr. Diggs is 12 years old now.  He originally lived in upper state New York in the country with another loving family.  They named him Mr. Diggs (you guessed it), because he loved to dig.  His former human dad told us that every morning, Mr. Diggs would travel over a large field to visit his human grandmother for a bowl of milk.  When Mr. Diggs was 2 years old, his first family decided to move to Phoenix, Az.
They loved Mr. Diggs so much that they decided to take him with them.  Upon arrival to Phoenix, the family needed a place for Mr. Diggs to stay while they looked for a home of their own.  We of course took one look at this beautiful cat, and fell in love.  Mr. Diggs has been with us ever since.  His first family decided that Mr. Diggs would be happier with us.
Since those first years Mr. Diggs has given us so very much love and joy, I cannot even begin to describe it.  Being, (we thought) responsible pet owners, we fed him the best food, had him vaccinated routinely, etc.  2 months ago, I found a lump over Mr. Diggs clavicle on the right side.  I did not think too much of it, as I thought it was probably a benign cyst, but I took him to our Vet to err on the side of caution.  Our Vet biopsied the tumor and the results came back as fibrosarcoma.  After educating ourselves about this dreaded cancer, we decided to opt against the surgery and radiation.  Our dear Mr. Diggs is fighting the fight with dignity and strength.  We are doing some non-traditional healing techniques, such as imagery, and Chinese healing.  Mr. Diggs is still comfortable.  If the time comes that he is in pain, and we cannot relieve that pain, we will help him go over the Rainbow Bridge to be with all his other feline and canine friends that have passed before him. In the meantime, Mr. Diggs is being spoiled even more than usual, but of course we do not think you can spoil or love your pets too much.
God be with each and every one of you and your beloved feline friends, as you fight this awful sarcoma monster.  Our love and prayers are with you all.

This beautiful furry flower child friend of ours is Emily.  With the tender loving assistance of her family, dear Emily is bravely battling the sarcoma monster.  In addition to helping their dear girl during this difficult time, Emily's family is reaching out to empower others by spreading the word about VAS.   By doing so, they will be helping to prevent others from having to share in the heartache that has touched the lives of SO many feline loving families.
Please include dear Emily and her family in your daily thoughts and prayers in the hope that
their dear girl is able to become one of the miracle kitty's who is able to defeat this terrible disease and that she and her family are able to enjoy many more cuddle filled years together.

This furry laid back friend of our family is Rusty, who we're very happy to say is bravely and successfully battling the sarcoma monster.
Dear Rusty was more a feral kitty than stray when he first came into his family's lives in 1994 at about one year of age. Rusty was doing so well on his own that it wasn't until winter that anyone suspected that he didn't have a home. A neighbor took this little fur baby in and then left him with his current human and furry family (Scooter) when he moved away. Rusty matured into the smartest, most sociable and affectionate cat that his family has ever known. Rusty even adopted and mentored two kittens that lived next door to his family, and when they moved away he adopted the newborn son of their new neighbor! Rusty's human "kitten" is now two and a half years old and they're the best of friends. Rusty's family is thrilled to see how they explore and play together, and how protective Rusty is towards little Alex.
Please say a special prayer for Rusty and his family in the hope that they have forever seen the last of the sarcoma monster.
