Welcome to Sylvia's
"Photo Friends"
This is the special place at Sylvia's Kitty Condo where we are pleased to be able to share with you some of the very special furry friends who we have met along the course of our dear girls journey. As our "extended family" of friends grows, so too grows the love which fills our family's hearts.
This furry carpet cuddling friend of ours is Hobbes
who after a brave and valiant battle with the sarcoma monster has now crossed
over to the land of love and comfort.
Hobbes adopted his Mom in June of 1990 when she
found him in an alley outside of a radio station where she worked just after
finishing college. Hobbes was a dirty little guy
only 5 or 6 months old. Hobbes Mom brought him into the radio station
where he played with the news wire paper for hours. Soon
after, Hobbes tuckered out and fell asleep on top
of the console. Since that time, this six toed wannabe lion king graced his
family's lives and terrorized his older furry sibling.
Hobbes always loved a good roll in the catnip, long naps,
sleeping with Mom and Dad, and sneaking a nibble on the flowers that his Dad
bought for his Mom. Even though Hobbes was an indoor
cat, he sometimes ventured outside to nibble on the grass and bask in the
breeze, always under parental supervision.
Hobbes was a wonderful traveler, moving several times with his Mom to eventually settle down and enjoy the company of a
new baby and share his Dad's side of the bed in their furry home in PA. For the
first six years of Hobbes' life, this special furry
boy battled Asthma and WON!
Please light your special prayer candles with the hope that Hobbes'
family is blessed with as MUCH love, peace and comfort as possible
during this difficult time in their lives.
This special furry Angel boy is Murphy,
who after a valiant battle with the sarcoma monster has made that heartfelt
journey to the land of love and comfort.
When dear Murphy's family was seeking to welcome a
new fur baby into their family's hearts and home, they had assured
themselves that their next cat would be a short-haired female. Well, when they saw
Murphy, a long-haired male, they just couldn't resist his good looks.
Murphy was a very good communicator, lovingly
persistent and was the most human-friendly of his family's five furry children.
Murphy did push the 9 lives theory to the limit as
his family remembers at least 2 occasions when they had to rescue him from serious trouble.
Murphy and his dad were truly inseparable.
When Murphy's dad would spread out paperwork on the table,
his furry boy would plop right down in the middle of it. When Murphy's
family folded laundry, their dear fur baby would be there to help them un-fold
it. Christmas present wrapping time always meant that someone would end up with
clawed fingers as Murphy was always attempting to
lend his furry paw of assistance.
While Murphy's furry siblings continue to fill his
family's lives with much love and joy, his special personality won't be easily duplicated.
One of the saddest aspects of having had to assist their dear Angel boy across
the Rainbow Bridge is in having to explain to his two year old human sister that
he won't be coming home.
Please include Murphy's family in your daily
thoughts and prayers in the hope that with each and every passing day, they find
comfort in looking forward to that glorious day when they will once again be
reunited in the land of love and comfort.
This heartfelt photo is of Kattler,
a dear furry friend of our family who after a brave battle with the sarcoma
monster has now crossed over the Rainbow Bridge. Kattler was an SPCA
kitten who when first spotted was attending an adoption fair in the park.
His soon to be human sister had already selected another kitten, but when this tiny, orange fur-ball curled up into
his soon to be Mom's hands and purred, she just knew that their family now had two new cats.
Kattler was always an indoor-outdoor cat, who
enjoyed climbing on fences, sleeping in the sun, and moving to the moist earth under the grapevines when the day was hot. As
Kattler aged and slowed down a bit, he became a politely insistent lap cat, and any lap, stranger or friend was fair game.
One special job of Kattler's was to cuddle in the lap of an older friend of
his Mom's who couldn't have a furry friend of her own; she often dropped by just to see him--the heck with
his Mom!
Dear Kattler brought so much comfort into so many people's
lives that their family honored their dear Angel baby with a heartfelt memorial
service. The service was conducted in front of the special rose tree
(tabby orange just like he was) in their yard where they laid their dear boy to
rest.
Kattler is survived by not only many grieving humans, but also Worm, Bast, and
his canine sister Emma.
Please say a special prayer for Kattler's family in
the hope that the heartache of having had to say "until" to their dear
Angel boy will one day be overshadowed by the lifetime of loving memories that
they were able to enjoy together.
