Welcome to Sylvia's
"Photo Friends"
This is the special place at Sylvia's Kitty Condo where we are pleased to be able to share with you some of the very special furry friends who we have met along the course of our dear girls journey. As our "extended family" of friends grows, so too grows the love which fills our family's hearts.
These are pictures of long distance furry friend of ours named Pepi. As you can see from the two pictures above, dear Pepi used to love to cuddle with her dad (on left) and she was a purrrrfect cuddle role model for her furry siblings Ferdi and Kasper (pictured cuddling on the right)
After a valiant battle with the sarcoma monster, dear Pepi made her heartfelt journey across the Rainbow Bridge. While Pepi's family will forever miss all of those quality and cuddle filled moments that they were able enjoy together, we are very sure that their beloved Angel girl is now looking down upon her family from the land of love and comfort, so proud of their heartfelt efforts towards making a positive difference in the battle against VAS and the lives of animal lovers around the world.
Dear Pepi's Mom composed the following heartfelt furry bio for their dear Angel girl so that we could share with all of our friends how their family's hearts and lives came to be united.
Please send your positive love and energy to dear Pepi's family with the hope that their efforts towards helping to prevent other animal lovers from having to share in the heartache that has united the hearts and lives of so many feline loving families."Our wonderful little Pepi was born in April 1981 in an litter of five by her mother Stamateeya. Pepi was the cutest little creature and lighted up each day that we were allowed to share with her. When I met my husband she was a bit jealous. But soon she made friends with him. More than that: She adopted him as her child and took special care of his balding head. Each night she would lie on his pillow around his head, like a furry cap, thus keeping him warm. She was very talkative, and I swear that she greeted us one morning by saying: "Morgen!" (The abbreviated version of "guten Morgen", that is "good morning" in German.) She had some problems with the consonants, but the vowels went well ...
Pepi was a thoroughly healthy cat, she even did not need dental care all her lifetime. She could have stayed longer with us if she had not been vaccinated annually. She died of a vaccine-induced sarcoma. My husband was skiing in Austria when she told me that she wanted to go over the Rainbow Bridge. He broke off his holiday and returned home. She passed away in our arms."
This blue eyed cuddle friend of our family is Cinnamon (nicknamed Cin) who after a brave and valiant battle with the sarcoma monster has now made that heartfelt journey across the Rainbow Bridge. Dear Cinnamon was so very blessed to have a loving family that always focused on their beloved girl's "quality" and "comfort" of life, especially during that difficult part of her nine lives journey when she was battling VAS.
Before Angel Cinnamon made her journey to the land of love and comfort, her Mom composed the following heartfelt furry bio. We wanted to share with all of our feline loving friends how Cinnamon earned such a special place in her family's hearts and lives.
Please include dear Cinnamon's family in your daily thoughts and prayers in the hope that with each and every passing day, their hearts begin to recover from the devastation of having had to say "until" to their beloved Angel baby. May their hearts instead be filled with the joyous memories of a lifetime of cuddle filled moments that they together shared.
"My baby Cinnamon is a 12 year old chocolate siamese. Cin and I began our journey through life together in June 1990. Over the years I realized not only had I found my best friend but a loyal companion as well.Cin was diagnosed with VAS in March 2002. I was never told, not once, over the past 12 years about the dangers associated with yearly vaccinations. Unfortunately, when she had her yearly check-up in 2001 the vet wasn’t very concerned when I informed them she had a small knot on her right rear back. I was told to keep an eye on it and if it got any bigger bring her back in. Well, it did get bigger, but all of a sudden. It went from a small knot to a knot the size of an egg in just several weeks.
After taking her immediately to the UGA vet & having numerous tests, the outlook for Cin was not good. Making her as comfortable and pain free as possible are now my main goals. It breaks my heart to know this horrible disease will take my Cins life, but there’s nothing that can ever take away the special memories we have shared.
We found out very early on that "Charlie" Star Kist Tuna was going to be her favorite treat. It was "Charlie" or nothing & believe me she knows the difference. No matter where she is or what she’s doing just say the "T" word and she comes flying through the house meowing. Actually, if she even hears a can opener it must be "Charlie".
Since Cin has always been a indoor cat she loves laying in front of the screen door watching and listening to the birds and squirrels and even the insects. As long as it moves or makes a noise it’s intriguing! She is an only child and very territorial. Occasionally, the neighborhood fury friends will come by for a visit and she very quickly lets them know who the boss is in this household. Growling has never been a problem for her.
She can also be very silly. If she sees or hears a fly swatter she starts quivering her lips and making this barking sound. Killing flies will never be the same again. Then, there’s the toy mouse she got at 6 weeks old. Believe it or not, we still have it! Although, its only held together by threads its still her baby and she talks to it and sometimes very loudly. Then there was the year we found a baby squirrel (Chipper) that had been abandoned by its mother. Cin watched Chipper go from a baby to this thing that looked like an over- grown mouse that could jump and run really fast. Occasionally, Chipper would escape from his cage and chase Cin all through the house and even ride on her back every chance he got. She really liked him but could never really figure him out. Guess you could say she has always had an adventures attitude toward the unknown. One year for Christmas I received a gag gift that was none other than a pair of talking rooster bedroom shoes. She absolutely hated them with a passion. Just walking through the house with those shoes on became quiet a challenge. Every time I turned around I was being attacked by a growling, bushy tailed girl. One-day I came home from work and one of the rooster shoes was torn to shreds. Til this day, she still has an attitude about certain shoes.
You can definitely say she has a nose for things! There’s nothing that comes into this house she doesn’t know about. She’s been into everything from the clothes dryer to the sleeping bag.
Christmas is one of her favorite times of year. Sliding, hiding and running through the gift wrap always make her so happy. Also, every year she finds that special place to snuggle under the tree and that would be her special snugly spot until the tree came down. I always arrange the gifts so I don’t disturb her. She’s kind of like a Christmas ornament and the tree is not complete until she’s all snuggled in.
The precious time Cin and I have shared together in our journey through life will forever hold a special place deep within my heart."
This regal emperor friend of our family is Oscar, who cuddles together with his family in the snowy state of Colorado. With the tender loving care of his family, dear Oscar is bravely battling the sarcoma monster. Oscar's parents are to be commended, as they are reaching out within their community towards empowering other animal lovers with the information that will enable them to make the very best decisions concerning the vaccination needs of their beloved children.
Please light your special prayer candles in the hope that Oscar and his family have forever seen the last of this terrible disease and are able to enjoy many more cuddle filled years together.
Oscar's Mom composed the following furry family history so that all of our friends could share in how this special boy came to be welcomed into his family's hearts and home."The moment I saw Oscar (previously named "Buzz" by the local animal shelter) I knew I had to have him. He was adopted by my husband Chris and I on July 2nd, 1996 and the Vet thought he was approximately 2 years old. He turned out to be quite grouchy at first (hence the name "Oscar") but both my husband and I fell in love with him instantly. His nickname is "Oscy" for short and he often responds to it. We love him and treat him and his fur "sister" Molly as our children.
That is why when he was diagnosed with VAS in December of 2001 we did everything possible to save him. The bad news is that he had to have his back right leg amputated, followed by three months of chemotherapy. The good news is that he is currently doing great and his prognosis is excellent!
One of Oscar's favorite things to do is eat. He really prefers his cat food to people food. However, he loves yogurt! We need to feed him like a dog (put small amounts of food out at a time) or else he'll just keep eating away! Oscar also loves his adopted "sister" Molly, a Siamese about half his size. They play and snuggle together constantly and are always grooming one another. We all love Oscy very much!"
