Welcome to Sylvia's

"Photo Friends"

This is the special place at Sylvia's Kitty Condo where we are pleased to be able to share with you some of the very special furry friends who we have met along the course of our dear girls journey. As our "extended family" of friends grows, so too grows the love which fills our family's hearts.

This furry handsome friend of ours is Blitchton, who with the loving assistance of his family has bravely and successfully experienced a "brush" with the sarcoma monster.  After this scary part of their dear boy's nine lives journey, Blitchton's parents are to be commended for now helping to carry forth the "effort of education" in the battle against this terrible disease.
Dear Blitchton even took charge of his family's "catputer" to compose the following furry composition as he was just so excited to be included as part of our Angel girl's album of "Photo Friends".

Hi!  I'm Blitchton Scott.  I was born to a barn cat, and came to live with my Mommy & Daddy in June, 2002.  My grandparents have decided that I have more toys than a toddler (I say never too many!!).  My Daddy even built me my own fully carpeted condo for in front of our sliding back door to give me a better view of the birds and squirrels in our yard.
I developed a liquid cyst (opened and drained) at the place where my shots were given, and my Mommy & Daddy found a wealth of information at Sylvia's web site.  I am very thankful for Sylvia's Mommy & Daddy doing so much work to get the good word out.  My world is a much better place because of them and their education.

These two beautiful Empress girl's are Abby (left) and her Angel sister Melissa.  Unfortunately, both of these special furry friends of ours have been touched by the sarcoma monster.  Dear Melissa made her heartfelt journey across the Rainbow bridge after a long and valiant battle with VAS.  Melissa's fur sister Abby is now bravely facing this difficult part of her nine lives journey with the loving assistance of her Mom.  Abby and Melissa's Mom is truly to be commended for her heartfelt dedication towards always providing her beloved fur children with the most "quality" and "comfort" of life.  Please include Abby and her Mom in your daily thoughts and prayers in the hope that they have forever seen the last of this terrible disease, protected from above with the heavenly guidance of their beloved Angel Melissa.
Abby and Melissa's Mom composed the following furry composition so that we could share with all of our friends just how their family's hearts and lives came to be united.

"I met Melissa and Abigail in the Morris Animal Shelter in Philadelphia when they were only 5 1/2 weeks old. They were 2 of a litter of 4, with a very brave mommy who was doing her best to keep their area clean despite the very few cedar chips she had to work with. Abby was very pretty, assertive and energetic, climbing up the cage and meowing at me.  I chose her right away and only at the last minute Melissa came up to the wire, put one paw up to me and just said, Meow - I felt she was asking me to please take her.  She wasn't as aggressive and her colors were not as flashy as Abby's and I thought, maybe no one else will take her, and I just felt something about her that she was very sweet.

These are the only 2 cats I've ever had, and they have been my dear beloved friends. Melissa died from VAS at nearly age 16 after being diagnosed 1 and 1/2 years earlier. Abby is now nearly 17 1/2 and was just recently diagnosed with VAS.
Some things about each of them:

Abby: Her fur is very soft, like down, & her nose is very pink! In her younger days she loved getting people to chase her & pat her, chase her and pat her.  Anyway she wants you to have to get up in order to pat her, so she will move just out of reach. After you go over and pat her for a while, she will move just out of reach again so that you will have to get up and move a few feet to pat her again. And she expects you to keep doing it! or else she gets annoyed & whines!  She is obsessed with eating cat grass. She is very high maintenance... but she can be very sweet as well.

Melissa: Her eyes were very green and I would often notice her just watching me and purring. She liked to sit in my lap, & sometimes when I was sitting in a chair she would come put her front paws up on my leg and just stand like that. She was very gentle but she liked to play even though I had to be careful with that as she was a bit of a klutz! She loved lying on my neck as a kitten; lying on my heart and putting her face on my face as an adult, especially during her cancer experience. Her favorite thing she ever ate was flax oil in a little cottage cheese (one of her cancer treatments). When she heard me mixing that up she would start making a special excited cry & come running over.

Both Melissa and Abby love to be sung to while being patted, especially songs about themselves!

These girls are very special, and they will always be with me."

This handsome regal fur baby is Rascal, a very special friend of ours who after a long and brave battle with the sarcoma monster is now frolicking and cuddling in the land of love and comfort.  While we share in their family's grief, we are very sure that dear Rascal is now looking down from his heavenly cuddle throne, SO very proud of their  heartfelt efforts towards helping to carry forth the "effort of education" in the battle against this terrible disease.
Rascal's Dad penned the following composition so that we could share with others their heartfelt bond which will never be forgotten.

"I was a dog person my whole life and never understood why anyone would want a cat, until a good friend could no longer keep her six year old furry orange tabby named Rascal, and I agreed to take him on. It wasn't long before everything became clear to me, and for the next six years I formed as strong a bond with Rascal as I ever had with a dog, and stronger than most of those. He was an incredibly adorable, well-behaved, adorable, friendly, adorable, intelligent, adorable, playful, and adorable guy, and he kept me entertained 100% of the time. My large fenced-in backyard was his personal kingdom, and no cat ever enjoyed his life any more than Rascal enjoyed his. Even after he got sick he maintained his normal life as much as possible for as long as possible.
I was very privileged to have shared some time with Rascal. He fought his VAS with courage and dignity, and his legacy is that I now have two new cats, and I always will have cats in the house. Although I miss Rascal a lot, he opened up a whole new world for me, and I think about him all the time with a smile on my face. "

These two handsome cuddling boy's are Vesper (left) and Barney, who cuddle together with their Mom in the Golden Gate city of San Francisco.  With the loving assistance of his Mom and furry brother, dear Barney is bravely battling the sarcoma monster.
Barney (short for Barn Cat, as his Mom suspects he was born in a barn) was a stray when she adopted him when she was living in the tiny town of Yorklyn, Delaware, in October of 1991.
Their vet guessed he was about 10 months old, which makes him almost 12 years old today.  Barney's Mom says that everyone who meets her special fur baby falls in love with him -- as he is so affectionate and large!  This well traveled boy has now lived in Delaware, North Carolina, Boston and now San Francisco, where he cuddles with his momma and his furry brother.
When Barney isn't snuggling up with his furry sibling Vesper
, he can be found on the roof deck of their family's apartment, as he just loves to sprawl out on his back and enjoy the warm sun!!
Please include dear Barney and his family in your thoughts and prayers in the hope that this big boy with the "cattitude" truly becomes one of the miracle kitty's that wins this difficult part of his nine lives journey.
