There are two photos on this page: above the text a dark one and below a more panoramic lighter one. As my scanner is lousy, I have decreased the light level above so you can better see the definition of the Eme.

Looking out of my side window, I enjoy this view of the "M" (spelled [Eme] en espanol). Many people first mistake it for a "W" ([doble u]), but they clearly don't have [M]onterrey in their hearts. The Eme is 2400 meters high on the southern border of what's visible from Garza Garcia. Garza Garcia (actually San Pedro Garza Garcia) is south of Monterrey (elev. 600 meters) itself, but the mountains are usually visible except when they are covered in clouds or more frequently in the summer, when smog cuts down visibility.

The Eme sits above Chipinque...it is actually part of the Park itself. Not so long ago we had a dry spell which caused wildfires. The damage to the mountain Pine-Oak forest ecosystem was serious. That was a very sad event for everyone. The beauty of the treed mountains is even more striking if you go into the desert surrounding valleys with all kinds of cacti and then realize how nice it is for the forest to rise above the agave and other such water stingy plants. Below, well don't mind my building obstructing the magical view...
