This is a shot looking to the east of Garza Garcia and Monterrey. It is our most famous landmark in the city, Saddle Hill, or "El Cerro de la Silla." Before we became an industrialized metropolis of 4.5 million people, the big sky and beautiful mountains were the sights to see in the area. Of course they still are, but you need to get away from it all now to appreciate them. After you are done reading this, scroll the photo in the center of your screen and try to position it with nothing else around. The serenity is wonderful...if only you could appreciate it in person!

Regiomontanos (people from Monterrey) have a reputation of being hard working and overly thrifty. Besides looking like a saddle, the mountain has a tale associated with it. Many years ago when Monterrey was still young, a businessman climbed the Hill and dropped a coin. Well he fell to his knees to look for it and kept digging around until he found it. With our rich cowboy folklore and business tendencies, you can choose which is the best explanation for Saddle Hill.
