Stunt Kites
Last updated 9/23/98
"A kite? What's the big deal?"
These are not the newspaper and string jobbies you made in second grade, folks! Try flying a 10 foot kite in 40 mph winds some time for a taste of the elements!
A stunt kite is special because:
- It has two or four lines (strings) instead of just one, and you can use the lines to control the kite's flight.
- Rather than just floating overhead, a stunt kite actually zooms around, sometimes at 40 mph or more!
- It pulls really hard on the lines. I've snapped 100+ pound lines before, and gotten dragged around the beach in high winds. Sometimes it's a little like trying to drive your car by standing behind it with ropes tied to the steering wheel!
So? Well, another fun part is you can pull yourself on a skateboard or inline skates, or launch yourself off a pile of sand and float for a bit, or whatever else you might think of. Plus there's that feeling of having the tiger firmly by the tail...
