I have been contacted by many classrooms as well as students who have been using this web site as a learning resource. The information on this site has been used to build hyperstudio projects, web pages, classroom virtual zoos, as well as having been used as a reference material for reports and projects.
I currently teach masters classes at Michigan State University teaching teachers how to effectively use technology in the classroom as well as how lesson plans and activities need to be modified to better engage the differences between the way children learn with technology versus traditional formats. I am very interested to get feedback and stories from educators who have utilized this resource. Please feel free to contact me at moraxion@geocities.com for suggestions or to share experiences. I will post lesson plans, suggestions, and links to finished student projects as they are made known to me.
Also, I would state here that students are able to use any of the pictures here as they see fit as long as they are not used to generate a profit. Since all the pictures came from the web, I cannot guarantee that they are public domain. To my knowledge, none of the pictures hold copyright but that means very little in the wild frontier of the Internet.
Finally, if you are concerned about your students or child reaching inappropriate content on the Internet, you may want to look for a program called WebWacker. This program can be pointed at a site and told to follow the links through a certain number of bounced. This program saves all the graphics, HTML, and web pages to a computer where it can be reviewed and saved. These saved files can be burned on to a CD or placed on disk where the student can use the program without actually using a live Internet connection. I give any permissions needed for this site to be WebWacked and used in an off-line environment.
