Wat Mahannopparam

This royal temple of third grade is located on Ban Tanao Road. It was built by H.R.H. Prince Kroma Meun Udomrattanarangsi, a son of King Rama III in A.D. 1850. His royal father donated 80,000 baht or 1,000 chang to help but the work was not completed until King Rama IV gave him the same amount of money in addition. The King gave the name Wat Mahannopparam" and built a Chedi behind the Ordination Hall to install a relic of the Buddha. In the Wihan was placed a Buddha image cast during the Sukhothai period called "Luang Pho Ruang".

The Ordination Hall
This is in bricks and mortar without roof decoration. The front porch is decorated with coloured tiles and five coloured ceramic pieces, with the Chines dragon at the centre. The frames of the doors and windows are in gilded black lacquer. The panels of the doors and windows are painted with various kinds of animals gilded and decorated with glass mosaic.
The Buddha Image in the Wihan
This image of the Sukhothai style called "Luang Pho Ruang", was enshrined here in the reign of King Rama III.
