ROCK FALL/TOPPLE

Rock fall/topple italia

localizzazione della frana

Barbarano Romano (VT), Lazio,
central Italy, March 1997

The small town of Barbarano Romano is built on a tuff plaque, bordered by two little streams. During a heavy rainfall period some large blocks of tuff fell down from the almost vertical soth-west wall and blocked the small pathway that followed the stream; a water pipeline and an electric wire were also cut by the fallen rocks. The height of the tuff wall, in the place where it failed was about 30 metres. The fallen material had a volume of about 400-500 m3
