and understand the global environment. Students and teachers from over 6,000
schools in more than 70 countries are working with research scientists to learn
more about our planet.

The Arva Institute is a unique one-year environmental studies program which was
established in 1996. The Institute is situated on Kibbutz Ketura, an oasis in the
Arava Valley, near the Jordanian and Egyptian borders. AIES serves as a regional
center for conservation and environmental protection activities, developing ties
between Middle Eastern, Israeli, European, and North American university
students.

The George Washington University Green University Initiative began as a
grassroots movement to implement sustainable practices into all aspects of life
at GW. In December 1994, GW and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency formed a
unique public-private partnership around the Green University Initiative. Our
partnership with the U.S. EPA provides us with the following guiding principles.

Kids For A Clean Environment (Kids F.A.C.E.¨) is an international children's
environmental organization started in 1989 by a nine-year old child. The club,
with a current membership of 300,000 world-wide, was established to help children
who wanted to learn more about the world in which they live, provide a way for
children to be involved in the protection of nature and connect children with
other children who shared their concerns about global environmental issues.
