A little About Me

A Little About Me!

My name is Debra Lowe, Debra Elaine Holcomb originally. Wayne Lowe is my husband and Josee Elaine Gattis is my daughter. Wayne's children are: Angie, Blake and Steffi. Wayne and I live in Cartersville, GA.

I was born in Athens, Ga during my father's masters degree at the University of Georgia. I graduated from Gadsden High, class of 1969. Besides our home in Cartersville, Ga, I still have property in Etowah county. (Gadsden is the county seat!) Now we have a time share (with points so we can go different places). Our address is in Gatlinburg, Tennessee.

My husband, Carmon Wayne Lowe, is from the Birmingham area. We met in Gadsden in the middle 70's. It was just a passing meeting. We must have "met" each other many times because of the proximity-we seem to have been at the same place at the same time many times in our lives.

We didn't formally meet again. Wayne found my page online, remembered me and got in touch. We dated for a short time and got married. We had a beautiful wedding with our children.

Wayne was Minister of Music at The First Baptist Church in Vincent, Alabama. Now he's Minister of Music at my church, Faith Baptist, in Cartersville. (The Lord has blessed me SO much!!)

Wayne also has a CDL license, he has driven a bus for Shelby County Schools in Alabama. When he moved to Cartersville, he began working for Brother Sammy Neal who goes to our church. He was a supervisor of transportation at the Atlanta airport. Now, still working for Brother Sammy, he's driving workers to their jobs in downtown Atlanta.

Lord willing, we are going to start is a Christian business, Deb-Way. We are trying to start a merchandising business. We'll be busy when he retires, won't we?

Josee is 24 years old. She attended Tennessee Temple University and now is attending Floyd State and works at RaceTrac. She wants to be a teacher. She was married and has a son, William Alan Weaver II, A. J. (He is a real joy!!)

Josee's father and my ex-husband, Joseph Ozell Gattis, born March 2, 1939, died October 15, 1996. Joe was from Etowah County. Josee Elaine was born in Gadsden.

My parents were Winford Honzel Holcomb, Sr. and Joyce Elaine Chappell. They are also deceased. Have you ever heard of Sand Mountain? Well, both families came from there, my mother from Marshall County and my father from Dekalb County in Alabama. My parents were living in Gadsden at the time of their death.

My brother, Winford Honzel Holcomb, Jr., was born in Marshall County and graduated from Gadsden High School, class of 1966. My sisters are: Laura Dianna, born in Cedartown, GA and graduated from Emma Sansom-class of 1979; and Laura Charlene, born in Gadsden, AL and graduated from Gadsden High-class of 1992.

My stepmother is Millie, her maiden name is Temple. She adopted Dianna and is Laura's biological mother. Millie has married Bob Stevens and Bob has adopted Laura. Millie and Bob live in Gadsden, Alabama.

Fred is married to MaryAnne Barnes, their children are Monica Leigh and Kenneth Curtis. Fred, MaryAnne and KC live in Kemah, Texas. Fred has had blood clot problems in his foot for about 15 years and recently had his foot amputated. MaryAnne is also having health problems, diabetes. (Please pray for them!) KC has married and lives in Kemah also. Monica, her husband James Masters, and daughter Christine live in Covington, Georgia.

Dianna is a vice principal in the high school she's been with for years. She's divorced and her kids are Nick and Amy. Nick is in the fourth grade and Amy is in the first grade. Dianna just purchased a new home in Tunnel Hill, Georgia.

Laura is married to Eric Smith and teaches math in a middle school. They have a daughter, Kaitlin. They built a home and live in Gadsden, Alabama close to the river.

I'm 54 and my husband is Wayne Lowe. I have a Specialist degree in Special Education. Haven't had a classroom in a long time. I stay at home and work with the church when I can.

I attended Gadsden High School, Snead State Jr. College, Gadsden State Jr. College, Jacksonville State University, UAB, The University of Alabama and Alabama A & M. Like I said, education is my area. My concentrations are Home Economics, Economics, Mental Retardation, Learning Disabilities, Emotional Conflict, School Psychology, and Interreltated. I also worked on, but didn't complete, Counseling.

At Jacksonville, I was a "little sister" in Delta Tau Delta fraternity. I was also in Kappa Delta Pi, the highest honor society in education.

Genealogy is my current hobby. I love it!! I have been a member of Bartow County Genealogical Society, United Daughters of the Confederacy, Daughters of the American Revolution.

I am a member of Faith Baptist Church, the pastor is Larry Foster. Most importantly, Jesus Christ is my Savior and I am a Christian. It's very exciting! Praise the Lord!! Have you given your life to the Lord? If not, today is the day!

I have a collection of pets: Ringo, Bandit, and Starr. They are very unique and I love them very dearly, sometimes!!

Ringo and Bandit are blonde llapsa apsas. Ringo was named after Ringo Starr of the Beatles, of course. (I loved the Beatles as a teenager, my daughter went through a phase of Beatlemania too.) Bandit acts like a bandit taking things from others, mostly Ringo. Both Ringo and Bandit have other names but, these are their nicknames.

Starr is my kitten. I got him from the humane society. He's a Maine Coon-gray and long hair. He's very affectionate and a small kitten. He loves to play!
