ADAMS
My Adams line begins with Prudie Jane Adams. (The Adams were supposed to have lived close to the Chappells in Henry County, Georgia.) Prudie was born August 18, 1871 in Georgia. She married James Albert Chappell in the year 1887. She died June 4, 1951 in Horton, Marshall County, Alabama. Prudie and Jim are buried in Oak Grove Cemetery.
The following is a list of their children and birth dates, my grandfather and his brothers and sisters. If you have any corrections or additions, please let me know. William Clark 23 Jun 1889, Mary Louisa 4 Mar 1891, Henry Franklin 3 Jan, 1893, Elizabeth Cordelia 21 July 1896, James Albert 9 Sept 1899, Bertha 10 July 1904, Julia Ophelia 24 Oct 1901, Oma Lucrisia 6 Feb 1906, Irene 21 Oct 1909.
Her parents were William J. Adams, born May 1, 1827 and died February 10, 1894 and Mary Louiza Denson, born November 1, 1843 and died March 1, 1917. They are buried in Marshall County, Alabama.
William is the last of the Adams line that I know. I'm researching Francis Adams, Revolutionary soldier living in Henry County, GA after the Revolution as a possible lead. It is family tradition that either Prudie or her mother was pure blood Indian.
Recently I learned that there was a fire in Henry County, Georgia, where I think they lived before moving to Alabama. Many of the Adams/Chappell records were distroyed.
Any information you can add to this would be greatly appreciated.
