The Beard/Baird line begins with Alice Vandora Beard. She was born July 9, 1881 in Georgia and married Curtis Lester Peterson in 1898. She died February 1, 1955 in Dekalb County, Alabama.

Her parents were Russell W. Beard/Baird and Sarah "Sallie" Perry. Russell was born on June 25, 1848 and died on August 22, 1922.
