The Peterson line begins with my grandmother, Lillie Mae Peterson. She was born May 4, 1904. She married Curtis Webb Holcomb November 9, 1919. She died October 23, 1939 in Dekalb County, Alabama. Her parents were Curtis Lester Peterson and Alice Vandora Beard/Baird. Her siblings were: Varney R., Alice Viola, Aubra Cleo, Flora Corie, and Lester Odell Peterson.

Lester was born May 4, 1881 in Lincoln County, North Carolina. He married Alice in 1898. Lester died May 28, 1954 in Dekalb County, Alabama. His parents were Henry Malachi Peterson and his wife Drewsiller. His siblings were: August B., Henrietta Blanch, Ira Clyde, Robert Jesse, Henry Carl, George Rominger, Dorsey Lee, Lloyd Henderson Peterson.

Drewsiller was born February 1851. I have no further information on her. Please help!

Henry Malachi Peterson was born November 6, 1849 in North Carolina. He married Drewsiller in 1871. He died January 13, 1922. His parents were Rev. Jesse Rominger Peterson and his wife Mary Ann Dettor. The only sibling I am aware of was Ireneas Alonzo Peterson who died May 8, 1862 at the age of 17 in Northampton County, NC.

Rev. Jesse Peterson was born July 15, 1821 in Lincoln County, North Carolina. He married Mary Ann Dettor on March 11, 1842 in Lincoln County, NC. He died May 25, 1857 in Stanley, NC.. His parents were Henry Peterson and Susanna Slagle. He had a brother and sister of whom I have no further information.

Henry was born 1794-1800 in Catawba, Gaston or Lincoln County, NC. He married Susanna Slagle on June 27, 1820 in Lincoln County, NC. The date and location of his death is unknown. His parents were Matthias Peterson and Ketron Rominger. His siblings were Daniel, Samuel, and Mary (Polly).

Family tradition is that the Peterson line is of German descent.

The Reverend Jesse Reuben Peterson was born in Dallas, North Carolina, Gaston County, on July 15, 1821. He was married to Mary A. Detter on March 11, 1842 by the Rev. Adam Miller. Mary Detter Peterson was born in the year 1819. Grom this marriage there issued five children:

Jane Frances Peterson, married H. H. Maxwell in 1858.
Irenaeus Alonzo Peterson, born July 7, 1844, killed during the Civil War in Northhampton County, NC on May 8, 1862.,br> Henry Melchoir Muhlenberg Peterson
Melville Brown Peterson, born December 12, 1851, married Lillian White Peacock on September 19, 1878.
Alice Cornelia Peterson, born April 11, 1854, married Gerald Thompson, May 16, 1875.
