WORLD WAR I PAGE

This is my World War I Page. The only direct line relative I know who fought in World War I was my maternal grandfather (Chappell), Daddy Henry.

Henry Franklin Chappell enlisted as Private on September 21, 1917 at Guntersville, Alabama. He served in Jaulgonne Argonne, France in the American Expeditionary Force from January 20, 1918 to November 18, 1918. (Dates he left the United States.) He was with Hq Co, 33 & Fa Co. B, 30th Infantry. Prior to the service, he was a farmer. He was injured in the left buttocks and received a 50% disability. At the time he received an honorable discharge, May 3, 1919, he was married to Lessie Phillips. At this time, he received $97.36 from the government.

My other grandfather, my paternal grandfather (Holcomb), Grandaddy, didn't. Something about his age or the number of children he had?? I really don't know.

I'll find out and be back shortly (I hope)!
