A note about the founders:
Chris and Tilde Stuart

Chris & Tilde Stuart are well known for the quality of their research in the books they have written. As founders of the African Carnivore Research Programme which was recently expanded to the African Arabian Wildlife Research Centre, they are involved in research on African and Arabian carnivores and endangered species and contribute, widely on the subject in both scientific journals and popular magazines. Their interest extends to threatened and endangered vertebrates, problem animal management, regional surveys, travel and photography.

They are also the authors of Southern, Central and East African Mammals: A Photographic Guide, Guide to the Game and Nature Reserves of Southern Africa, Field Guide to the Tracks and Signs of Southern and East African Wildlife, Africa: A Natural History, Field Guide to the Larger Mammals of Africa, Field Guide: Mammals of Southern Africa, and their newest book Africa's Vanishing Wildlife.

Tilde was educated in Austria, where she received a doctorate from the University of Innsbruck.

Chris was educated in England and South Africa, receiving an M.Sc. from the University of Natal. He is a member of three specialist groups of the international conservation body, the IUCN, on cats, mustelids and viverrids, and also serves on the specialist group on reintroduction.
