Muthaiya's Version Hi, Hope you all do well... You would have been hearing different versions about Version 99. But there is an ultimate version of Version 99, which may be my version of Version 99. This version of Version 99 is really different from other versions of Version 99. Version was conducted on 27th, 28th and 29th of August. This time number of colleges participated were very less compare to previous years. The count is just 18. To add the flavor of All India MCA meet, there were colleges from Maharashtra, Kerala... Since the batch has already got a very good placement record (28/32), the coordination was good like our class (I hope no objection). Since first years were joined just 10 days back, there were no problems from their side too.... Johny and myself reached REC, had a bath in Beryl hostel, reached Barn. We heard a nice story from Umasuthan about his experience with a third year guy, who received Uma as a delegate on the second day morning. The reason was - Uma is not looking matured... We had a gala time in Orchestra with Dance, where Alex, Uma, Rajini and TVK were in full form... Alex has got a good reputation among all our hype ju's. They posted the banner for our events and it was good to see Class of 97 in the banner in A2 Hall. Kovai and Mumbai had a neck to neck fight to get the trophy and I think Mumbai has got it because of System Analyst Event...... There are 2 Bihari's in 1999-2002 batch and they spent around 1 lakh as 1 Year for the coaching class to join MCA. We should feel proud of it. Generally, This year the placement was very poor every where but not for RECT MCAs... Then regarding Kadalai REC Trichy, a reply to Shakku's mail. The ultimate kadalai that I enjoyed is the kadalai with the beautiful, homely, lively, brilliant Shakku.. I can add some more attributes to Shakku. But I prefer others to add the left out attributes of Shakku. I am waiting to meet shakku to kadalai. Vijay (our classmate) is in USA. Mohankumar is learning/working in SAP. Sankar still didn't forget the 10-page letter. Suresh should help Sankar regarding this. Because now a days he is not getting the letters from his dream ****. Yours R.Muthaiya A big hai to everybody...... Shanky's Version Hello folks, Myself, uma and ramesh started our journey towards RECT on 27th night. Since our train tickets were not confirmed, we were to go in General compartment and had tough time. Upon reaching RECT we found our Alex sleeping in PG hostel. The PG hostel is being renewed to include first floor. Even though we didn't sleep in the prev. night, we ourselves found not sleeping in the A2 hall!!. On 28th night there was a music troop which did some performance. Muthu and Johny joined us on the same day. After Muthu came, we heard lots of noise(I mean Kadalai noise). On Sunday our good old Venky came from Madras. Along with Venky Senthil(Venky's classmate) also came for Version and they were the judges for the Systems analyst event. Uma also participated as a judge for the System design event. This time lots of Alumnis(around 15 guys) came for Version. Johny is fully recovered and looks very confident. While leaving from campus, Muthu made the first year guys to give us the famous meow salute. Generally the whole trip was good. Thanks and Regards, Sankar. Johny's Version Hi All. It was great going back to REC. We(myself and Muthu) just made it to the railway station on saturday and got into Vaigai. Had to run as soon as we got down from auto till we reached the train. It build up my confidence since walking itself is difficult for me now. Version was oraganized very well. There were no confusions. And very good support from faculty(unlike ours. we had suport from them only for lunch and dinner). i missed out Black 'n Chetty. Did meet all others. Muthu and Uma sure did have great time. By the time we reached, Uma conquered most of the "ripe mangoes". But Muthu never gave up. I had to drag him out while coming back. Myself and Sankar were silent spectators. Sure to go for AGM. hope many more of our classmates could come by that time. bye & rgds Johny Uma's Version VSRSION 99 Aug 27.... When the whole nation was debating whether a foreigner can become our PM, a group of software professionals from the IT Big Names were leaving the silicon valley of India (of course it's Bangalore) to one of the remotest villages of Tamil Nadu, namely Tuvakkudi where budding IT professionals from various parts of the country had already assembled to celebrate the release of the latest Version of VERSION. The group that left Bangalore consisted of Gun (Ramesh), Shanky (Sankar) and myself. Pal (class '95) and Raghu (class '97), the usual visitors for Version didn't come this time. The fun started when we found that our tickets were not confirmed. No other go, we boarded the general coach of the Mysore-Tanjavur Exp. We are against bribing the TTE, as we are the BEST?! (hope you know what it is) citizens of the nation. We tried all sorts of things that you could imagine, to grab some sleep but those attempts were futile. While the co-passengers were discussing from Kargil to ' Who went after Whom ', Gun came out with a nice suggestion of getting down at Tiruverumbur instead of Trichy. My God! Yet another project for Truverumbur J***!!. ( For any further clarifications in this regard refer to page 2 of Version'98 report by Raghuram. Expert advice can be obtained from Nagaraj). I immediately rejected that suggestion and didn't allow the discussion to continue any further. Aug 28... Alas!.... Sorry, At last, we reached Trichy. From there we traveled along with baskets of vegetables and fruits to our final destination, RECT (REC, Thuvakkudi). We went straight to Barn, as we didn't know which hostel to go. We were mistaken for delegates initially, and it was clarified with a brief intro from our side. We remembered all those good, bad and ugly days of RECT, as we were heading towards PG hostel. To our surprise we saw Alex sleeping in room 14. After exchanging a couple of words, (which should be exchanged when two rectians meet after a long time) we all got ready to make our presence felt by the Rectians. The events of the day had already begun with web design contest (at 5:30 a.m.). Though the number of colleges participated were less (around 18), all the major colleges had come for version which included PSG CT, VJTI, SNDT-Bombay Anna Univ, GEC-Trishur and MKU. We had our breakfast at Barn, along with some Kadalai. After that we decided to be the spectators for some of the events. The first was a ?Tech talk? by an instructor of SSI. The topic was "Emerging trends in IT industry". Doesn't it sound familiar? Rectians do keep up the tradition. As usual the expert was not spared. When TVK asked about Jini technology, our expert explained about 'Just in time compilation'. There were couple of prelims going on at different venues, and I was requested by one of the 1st year girls to attend the marketing prelims, who assumed that I was a delegate. The general quiz and cross words contest were well conducted. By then it was evening and we had Milo along with Kadalai. Gun and myself decided to visit Amudha (class '97). We went all the way to Thuvakkudi Malai, to find that she had already left for Singapore. From there Gun was on his way home and I returned to RECT. Shanky and myself thought it would be unfair if we didn't say a 'Hai' to the lord Ganesh of RECT. Unfortunately we missed all those Maamis and their songs. At this point of time Muthaiya and Johnny, joined us from Madras. Muthaiya was at his best in frying ?Kadalai?. Sankar was very much focussed in what he was doing. To tell the truth, Johnny was keeping quiet. May be, that there weren?t many mallu guys could be a reason for his silence. The events of the day came to an end paving way for the informals to start. The lecturers and Profs of MCA Dept didn't miss that day's dinner. 'Fried rice' was served with a different name. After the dinner, we danced a little and started off to Sam Fox. Sam Fox has once again captured the market with a different USP. Aug 28... After the breakfast, we attended the Mock press. Aishwaryas and Jayalalithas came on to the stage to sing the same Purana. Can you guess who could be judging this event? You are right. He was Venky. Most of the events on that day were finals. While the hosts redefined SNA as "Synchronous Network Architecture" in Tech Quiz, the guests invented a new version of Netscape Navigator, which can be used to run VB applications. Group discussion for once was not a fish market. The topics, (actually they were not topics but situations) were really good. The marketing event was interesting. People came out with original ideas. Version was once again culminated with the System Analyst event, with its usual judge Venky. Along with him, was Senthil (Venky's MBA Classmate). We couldn't wait till the end as we were getting late for our train. We had a car waiting for us to go to the R'way station. Thanks to the hosts. This time we had confirmed tickets. With our heart and mind filled with joy, we set our journey to the Silicon Valley of India. Heaven is a place on earth. No doubt, It is RECT!
