Very family oriented. We have a "cusssins" egroup in which all those who have computer access are members. We have regular email exchanges and discussions. Whenever we get together, we end up talking at the top of our voices, discussing anything under the sun, playing cards (one of the criteria to be in the "family" is knowing to play cards) - strictly for sport, of course, no money involved. Since the family is split between Cochin and Bombay, we alternate visits.
Religious, but practical. We visit temples. In fact, each time my Bombay relatives come, they end up visiting lots of temples. But there is no fanaticism, no blind faith, no superstitious beliefs.
Education was the key family value engrained by our grandfather. He gave his sons no money, but education. His sons have followed the same philosophy. [Top]

I've more relatives, but am not as close. Maybe because in today's world, the 'Net keeps people together and my relatives don't have Net acess? Poor excuse, I guess!
I love the company of my relatives. I make it a point to attend any family functions - marriages, etc. I also try to visit my home (Cochin), when some of my relatives make a visit.
We could be accused of being more Malayalee than tamilian, as we celebrate Onam and Vishu to a great extent than Pongal. This is because we've been in Kerala for generations.
I've always had this problem wherever I went - am I a Tamilian or Keralite. Since my answer was both, I was accepted by neither party (not that I cared:)! [Top]
