Hepatica nobilis, Marble Leaf form' The leaves have symmetrical markings It sets good seed (best sown green so contact me for next spring's seed), which is not easy to germinate. I am trying to introduce stronger colour ( red and blue) into the flowers. No luck so far.

Prunus 'Firehill' A cause of much disappointment. Occasionally it will cover its stems with these bright pink blossom, but some years it suffers from a type of 'wilt' and other years it does not. I think it is a physical problem as it occurs in the early summer, and it recovers. Heavy pruning may help because it can be an ungainly shrub.

Oxalis sp. J.D.A. 141 This was collected by John and Brenda Anderson from the hills around Santiago during one of their collecting trips to South America. I now grow this as a self seeding annual, and my attempts to catch the explosive seed are futile, as are the attempts to lift and pot the seedlings. It is a beautiful plant, and may have crossed with one of my other Oxalids.

Prior to the Alpines 81 Conference Dr Fielder collected seed in the Andes and in my share was seed of this stunning Calandrinia sp. It set seed and I distributed this amongst friends, but it was not destined to stay long. The plant had a tap root which hated winter moisture yet the whole plant would wilt if it became too dry. If it had managed to go dormant it might have survived, but it didn't..

An orange / red coloured seedling from Saxifraga Winifred. Previously Peggy Eastwood was the only saxifrage this colour, but hard to grow. This seems better
