Our Bohland lines can be traced back
to 1725 in Schaffheim , Germany
with the birth of Johan Georg Bohland.
His son Anastasius Bohland was one
of 12 German families allowed to resettle
Mramorak in 1820.
This was in the Banat Region, under Hungarian Rule,
but now is in Yugoslavia,
approximately 20 miles NE of Belgrade.
Immigrants were given land to develop,
but also had to do duty as border patrol.
Many Germans that had not left Mramorak before
the 1940's were put into labor camps.
Many were killed or starved.
The ones who immigrated from Mramorak to America
settled in Mansfield, Ohio, Chicago, and Texas.
