ALMA, Inc. (The Association for Latin-American Music and Art) was established in 1998 and is devoted to the promotion and distribution of music and art created by Latin-Americans. The artistic contributions of Latin-Americans have remained virtually unknown or neglected having been long overshadowed by the dominance of Western European cultures. Yet undoubtedly, Latin-America, with its remarkably rich heritage, is one of the most widely spread cultures of the world.
Classical musicians, artists, teachers, scholars and performers are captivated and intrigued by the Latin-American tradition - - a blend of folk, classical and native influences creating extraordinary mixes of sound, color, and rhythm.
ALMA, Inc. seeks to bring the distinguished and celebrated composers, performers and artists of Latin-America to the forefront by providing access to their art in printed and recorded form in addition to information through the sponsorship of concerts, lectures, conferences, and exhibits. It is hoped that this effort to increase exposure will provide significant and deserving recognition, heightening awareness and expanding the artistic horizon for generations to come.
